They are a fraternal organization which helps foster communal unity and provides charitable services and donations to some organizations whether they are Masonic in nature or not. Members of the Freemasons wear their masonic jewelry which shows the various signs and emblems of the group. Although it is not a mandatory requirement to wear their masonic jewelry, many Masons prefer to show their allegiance to the group by sporting the various masonic jewelry they can purchase or have custom-made.
