I'm not one who stalks superstars or show my patronage in a very obvious manner. It's also not everyday that I get to see or at least have a glimpse of a famous personality. So, if a childhood crush suddenly comes to your company, what do you do? Get starstruck! It's a big surprise and a very wonderful opportunity for me to finally see my Hollywood crush - John Travolta!!!
A little birdie told me he would be visiting our office by end of company hours. Unfortunately, it would be off limits since it was an official visit. It was actually a hush-hush thing. So, I and my other colleagues huddled on the nearby conference room where we could overlook and see what was happening on the lower floor due to the floor-to-ceiling glass wall.
I only have my mobile phone which did not do any justice in the "zoom" so I captured him (along with the top honchos and I could not share those photos...sorry. Company policy...) from afar and tried to get a decent shot. I gave up after several tries since there was no way I would be able to stand close to him. The shots I have was all small and cannot be resized because it would pixelize. Also, he was surrounded by the top honchos. I could not use those photos to share.
My colleague and I decided to just leave the office and took the lift. And I think, God is really smiling at me and He knows how much I wanted to see John Travolta up close. We didn't press the "7th" floor but it opened there just in time John was standing outside, posing with the other staff whom he graciously allowed to stand close. We instantly got off the lift and the other staff with us didn't even knew what was happening decided to come along.
And there he was, standing so tall and oh so handsome near the middle lift, posing and smiling with the 'lucky' people who managed to snag his attention for a short while. I was just next to the photographer who was taking all the official shots for our company's gazette. My colleague kept shouting "click Ria, click!!!! Take a photo now!" But there I was, standing, my finger froze and just gazing at John Travolta. I was in a trance I guess and chanting his name "John, John, John." So when I finally snapped out of that seemingly lifetime of gaze, his very big and burly bodyguard ushered him inside along with the top guns of the company. From there, I could still see him standing at the corner so I told myself, that was the only chance I have to get his attention at least. So, I called out his name twice and very loudly and I waved. And guess what he did, he looked at me and waved back! Gushing! And this my friends, will go on and on in my household and circle for the days to come. I didn't realize I had it in me to be starstruck and all giddy like a goat. Bear with me. I am super awestruck right now. I can't get over it.
He's just an amazing fellow. He's so good looking even for his age and quite tall too. I love how he carried his "pilot uniform" and he looked every bit the regal pilot that he is. Oh John Travolta! Thanks for looking at my direction when I called you out and thanks for waving back. You're always welcome to come back and fly the Qantas carrier anytime to Dubai.
Another tick in my bucket list! So, who's visiting our company next? If it's Brad Pitt, I'd probably faint! hahaha

John Travolta is a legend! It must be great to have him wave at you. :) I agree, he still looks good at his age.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how you felt when he waved back! I would do the same thing... but that's for Ian Veneracion! hahaha! I live here in Canada now and the TIFF is currently underway, there are so many Hollywood stars on the red carpet now in Toronto but that would also mean brushing shoulders with other fans and the chances of seeing a famous celebrity is slim. Anyway, I love John Travolta too... my hubby did see him in Australia once.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan but I do like him! It's a great day for you for sure :) That was a dream come true ate noh?
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, sayang, nasa malapitan na di pa nakakuha ng pic. I would froze too and propbaby get shy to take pictures anyway.
ReplyDeleteIf that's Channing Tatum or Zachary Levi,I'll faint! ahaha...like you, i don't really swoon but maybe just like you I'll freeze too! fun experience!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a lucky girl you are Sis :-) I bet you feel like you are in heaven :-) i bet he is handsome too aside from he is a great actor and talented as well :-)
ReplyDeletebrad pitt would be cool! haha you are still very lucky to see him in person sis. when ever i see celebs here in other country i am too shy to ask them for a photo but knowing that I said Hi and they say Hello back to me is priceless for me already
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're in seventh heaven that time. Seeing your your favourite prestigious people is like winning a lotto.Lucky you.
ReplyDeleteI could relate, I froze several times despite wanting to take pictures of the magnificent beauty in front of me, when we are overwhelmed, oftentimes we end up forgetting what we should be doing. i love John's dimples, oh and his deep voice, which sounds sexy. So happy for you Ria, you get to see your crush, I still wish to see Harrison Ford, my Indiana JOnes, haha!
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahaha gee I super duper enjoyed this post sistah...feeling giddy with you! hahaha congratulations on being able to call his attention! I would have lost my voice had I been in your place hahaha...I can imagine you standing in awe and not being able to snap out of being starstruck to manage to take even just one photo of him hahahaha...I think the same thing would have happened to me..one thing I am sure about myself is that my jaws tend to lock in a smile each time I see a gorgeous guy haha so just imagine what would have happened to me had I been in your place hahaha...collapsing? perhaps hahaha..wish Brad Pitt will come your way...prepare to lose consciousness hahaha mwah! :)
ReplyDeleteHe is a handsome. His family used to own a house here in a fly-in subdivision. Rumor has it...the neighbors complained because his plane is too loud.
ReplyDeleteParang nakikita ko na ang reaction mo. Kilig to the bones. From his earlier film Grease to Faceoff. John has transform into a versatile actor. Pero di ko siya type. LOL
ReplyDeletewow! You have been starstruck big time! I guess I will freeze too when I see my fave celebrity!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I am so laughing with your experience, sis! I can't blame you! Gosh, it's John Travolta after all! :D Please, please, call me when little birdie would tell you Brad Pitt is on the way! I will PM you my number! I want to faint with you, too! LOL.
ReplyDeleteWas here on behalf of my daughter Triz! :)
now, i know the feeling of getting starstruck. if it's brad pitt coming in next, have a pen and a shirt ready for authograph and please send it over to me :)
ReplyDeleteO John Travolta!!! I had a friend during college who keeps on talking about him too, but I could not relate since during those times I didn't know or even see John at once. But due to curiosity, I searched and find this handsome guy!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can say wow!
ReplyDeleteI am not really a fan of him. But I like one movie that he starred in.
Hahaha! I was caught in a lopsided grin while reading through your experience, Sis! I can feel your excitement! If a star falls down from the sky, who wouldn't be so thrilled? It's not a daily occurence after all! At least you had it documented; too bad for us we can't see him from your cellphone's reliable camera :-)
