TV Mount and Holes

I am very finicky when it comes to drilling holes in the wall. I don't like ruining a good painted wall and if there's a mistake somewhere, those putty pudding only highlights the plastered hole.

My hubby is the opposite. He would hammer a nail right through a wall or even drill without using a level.  Oftentimes, the object being put on the wall is lopsided, too low or too high or not centered. And because of that, we had to repaint the living room area.

Not all of that is his doing. Some are contributed by our relatives who live with us too. I just had enough of the drilling of holes without properly measuring and assessing the area. So, when we bought a flat screen TV recently, I urged my husband to consider purchasing a tv stand with mount so we didn't have to drill holes again. Unfortunately, my plead was not taken into consideration because my hubby is a practical man. "Why buy?" he would say "when we can use the existing one at home." He is right. I cannot argue with the man. Therefore, if that is the case, I suggested we should ask the delivery man to do the installation as well as the TV came with a free wall mount. I asked if they also do installation and drilling. Your guess is good as mine. They did the whole work and I am happy to say that our wall was spared from unnecessary hole drilling. The TV is placed perfectly where we wanted it to be, right on the center.

GITEX 2011

GITEX is known worldwide as one of the most important electronics event in Dubai. It is a week-long event with other major shopping outlets participating through various drop-down mega-sales of electronics and gadgets for consumers to feast their eyes on. For some with the budget to spare, this is the right time to purchase their dream item.

A lot of gadgets and electronics are being sold on low prices during the GITEX. There are nikon cameras  being sold for DHS 3199 with actual price of around DHS 5000. You actually saved more than a thousand. The package also includes other freebies like lens, SD card and even an LCD TV. Other high ticket items are selling like hot pancakes are the laptops and personal computers, Apple products especially the iPad, smart phones, routers and modems, navigational equipment and the big plasmas, LCDs and LEDs and other medical equipment.

People really save up for this event because of the great sale packages the distributors have during the GITEX. There are even raffles of major prices like cars and large amount of vouchers to be used in major shopping outlets. Who would not be enticed in GITEX?

Appliances Galore at Home

My husband loves hoarding on electronic gadgets and home appliances such as computers, home entertainment set and video players. What does that mean to me? Well, we are accumulating so much energy consumption. The appliances are taking so much space in the house. The cables and wires are getting tangled. I had to purchase several wire looms to organize them. Also, I am getting very confused on which one to use. Believe me or not but we have 4 DVD players at home. One of them is connected to the TV which also serves as the main control for the surround system. The other 3 are probably decoys! I don't recall using them at all.

I told my husband to dispose the other appliances because we don't need another set of DVDs, most certainly not 4 in a household. We also have several laptops and 1 desktop which we use for downloading stuff. It's the downloading center of the house as we call that pc. Again, it's a redundant thing. I thought I have already done end-of-the-year cleaning last year only to realize we have forgotten to get rid of the unused appliances at home. These appliances are almost brand new because we never used them. Such a waste of money!
