5 Great Things Moms Can Do to Get Some Me Time

Being a mom is the most wonderful thing. But no one ever said it was easy. It’s difficult, hectic, stressful, and sometimes you just want a bit of an escape. Yet you probably feel awful for even thinking like this. The truth is, taking a bit of time out for yourself is one of the best things you can do. You are, after all, still you. So much more than just mom. Whether you want to take some time to relax, or have some fun, you deserve it.

Find a New Hobby

Having a hobby is a great way to relax and unwind. Some great hobbies to try are:

· Drawing or painting

· Photography

· Blogging

· Baking or cooking

· Web design

· Coloring

· Jewelry making

· Knitting

· Crafting

A hobby can be a big investment of your time, like blogging, or something simple. Coloring in is rather popular at the moment, people claim it’s incredibly relaxing and even therapeutic. Adult coloring in books are readily available in many different styles.

Learn Something New

There are many online courses available if you fancy furthering your education, from skills based courses, to online masters degrees such as an online MBA from the University of Maryland. Some courses may just satisfy a desire to learn, whereas others, like the online masters in business administration could potentially lead to an exciting new career or even give you the skills you need to open your own business one day.

Exercise

Exercise is a great way to keep fit and healthy, take some time to think and process, and to ensure you feel great. There’s no confidence or mood booster quite like it. Going for a run or a swim is a brilliant way of taking some time out and doing something for yourself. If you could make it a regular thing, even better. Set yourself small goals and celebrate when you meet them. If you don’t get much chance to get out of the house without the kids, YouTube offers a magnitude of different fitness videos you could try.

Catch Up with Friends

It’s easy to lose touch with friends once you have a family. Spending some time with friends, away from the kids, is one of the best ways to feel like your old self again. If you can get away for a night, go for a proper girl’s night out. If not, invite them round for a takeaway and a bottle of wine. A good catch up might be just what you need.

Treat Yourself

As a mother, you deserve a nice treat. How often, now you are a parent, do you buy yourself something nice? A new outfit, a book or DVD you fancy, or some supplies to give yourself a pamper night? Anything that’s just for you can make you feel special again.

A bit of me time, and a chance to do something for yourself, will make you a better, more relaxed mom. A bit of time out often makes us truly appreciate what we’ve got. So, don’t feel guilty!

Birthday Flowers for My Mom

I shouldn't have told my mom I was coming home for a 2-week long vacation because I wanted to surprise her for her birthday. She's turning 63 this 23rd of June. I only realized to surprise her recently. Too late! I already informed everyone in my family back home of my vacation.

I have asked my brother to order flowers for her so at least we can still have a little surprise. I want to see the look in her face because she loves receiving flowers. I'll scout around as soon as I settle there. I already bought her a gift here. It will be very nice to give her something she really adores.

Babies and Mommies Around

I haven't seen much of mommies jogging lately with their little tots and babies on their baby jogger city mini at the nearby park. The recent weather freak show here has kept most of us at home. For the past few weeks, we had thunderstorms, hail, sand storm and lately, fog. I was not able to run around much too.

I honestly miss seeing the mommies and babies I usually see in the morning. Now that the weather has turned to a bit hot and humid, I don't think I will be seeing much of them for a long time.

Arf, Arf!

Nope, not the barking of a dog nearby but that of my daughter. She isn't barking but coughing like a small pup. I had to skip my class today to take care of her because she's coughing like crazy.

Stuff like this really throws me off the balance. One moment I am a career woman making decisions and the other moment, I am a mom, worried-sick of her little child.

I hope my baby feels better soon. I can't stand seeing her cough her guts out.
