Ways to Trick and Boost Your Metabolism

Metabolism seems to go on a standstill as you get older, just like mine. However, there are ways to trick your metabolism and make it function normally to aid your weight loss goal and here are ways how:

1. Exercise regularly and incorporate intervals

Your mode of exercise can be from brisk-walking to climbing the stairs to running on the treadmill or hitting the gym. As long as you stay active and incorporate intervals like sprinting to the loo if you are in the office or taking 2 steps at once as you climb the stairs. They are good intervals to keep your metabolism revved up. You can walk in the park at normal pace from 1 to 2 minutes then power-walk for another 2 minutes then go back to your normal pace. Repeat the cycle and that's revving up your intervals.

2. Don't just skip the caffeine

A study published in the Physiology and Behavior Journal shows that coffee drinkers have 16% higher metabolic rate than non-coffee or caffeine drinkers. This is because caffeine increases heart rate and stimulates the central nervous system. I say, check with your physician if you have other ailments like hypertension. I cannot drink coffee just like that because of my hypertension so what will work to some may not be applicable to the others.

3. Ice-Ice baby!

I have been reading a lot of articles about how having ice in your water can elevate your metabolic rate although modestly. Our bodies have core heat of 98 degrees F and when you drink ice cold water, that water will be brought to your bodies' core temperature and gets heated. It is at the point where calories are burned during warming process.

4. Eat Like A King during Breakfast

Know the saying "eat like a king at breakfast, like a prince at lunch and a pauper during supper?" Well, that holds true. Try not to skip or skivvy on your breakfast so your blood sugar will not dip fast. Eating healthy and hearty breakfast can keep your hunger at bay for some hours so you don't get tempted to munch in-between.

5. Green Tea for you

Green tea is not only high on anti-oxidants which keep flu and colds at bay. It also contains ECGC, a plant compound which stimulates metabolism. Skip on the fizzy sodas and grab a cup of Green Tea instead.

6. Muscle-mania

We don't want to look like Hercules but gaining lean muscles can help in burning up calories fast. Always remember that muscles burn calories fast than fat does. So, next time you hit the gym, try to do some weights. You can even do it at home by carrying two 1 ltr. of water bottles on each hand and lift for few cycles. You don't need high-tech gym equipment to achieve that.
