Organized Chaos

I don't want to admit this but I think my daughter thrives well in organized chaos. It means, the more her stuff are scattered all over, the better she can think and perform. I, on the other hand, is the complete opposite.

My daughter knows exactly where her stuff are given the current state of her messiness. She can pinpoint the location of the books, notebooks, pens and pencils, small items and even the spare coins.  I don't think I can ever live with a mess like that. If one suddenly changes the arrangement of my desk, I get totally lost.

I like order in every sense of the word. Sometimes, my orderliness borderlines obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). However, I know when to keep it in check. I just have my preference and I want things kept in a certain order - my kind of order.

So, as early as now, I am already setting our "future dream house rules" for my daughter to abide. She will have her own room just the way she likes it provided she keeps her stuff in the cabinet or shelves. She is a fine lady and as such, she must start cleaning up her mess. Her organized chaos will have to end at one point and she has to start embracing the idea of putting a certain order in her stuff and life.

  1. When I was a teenager I like my stuff scattered all over my room when I do my homework, so I can relate to that :)

  2. i don't really call it OCD, when you got the feeling of organizing things because you've noticed it is already messy, however, for my stances, OCD for me is something that would be happened every time...but like i said that's just my views..

  3. A very good idea, Sis. Win-win solution for both of you. Kids must be trained how to be orderly in everything. But just remember this, girls are more easy to train than boys.. Sumakit din ulo ko sa binata ko.

  5. It's what they call organized chaos syndrome, it's prevalent among youngsters. But this attitude can be addressed, it just need time and effort on the part of the parents :)

  8. I am so like your daughter. I can work very well in a cluttered environment and I end up decluttering, LOL! Good thing you're there to help her out and train her well when she's still very young.

  12. reminds me when i was little. hehehe.. i was like this when i was still in HS and college. i hate it when my mom pick up all my stuff and cant find it. thats why now as a parent, when i see my sons room in clutter, i told him to clean his room and put all his things away. that way he knows where he put it and of course it will teach him to clean up to. =)

  13. I think I'm the same with your daughter po Ate Ria. I don't know why but I can do my work well when everything around me is not arranged. My mind can work really fast and well when everything's not in order. lol. But, I can't live when it's very dusty or too messy in the sense that worms, rats and any other creatures are living with me. I still manage to clean up my places every once in a while.

My both parents are very neat in everything. I don't know why I'm different. hahahaha!

  14. Thanks for your comments everyone. I think most kids go through a stage where they just can't keep their stuff in order. *sigh*
