Ever since recession hit the whole world, people are very particular about where their hard-earned money goes. I think, it is fair to say that 90% of the world's population is scrimping on their money so when buying high-ticket items like vehicles, land, residential units and even the day-to-day necessities are all meticulously thought of.
If you live in the US or places in Europe where part of your necessity is having a vehicle to take you to and from your work, you may want to consider the practical side of owning one. You will also have to take into consideration the money you will shell out without sacrificing the vehicle's features and safe-worthiness as opposed to its price.
Buying a vehicle according to the purpose and preference do not have to limit you to new cars only. There are second-hand vehicles around where you can get a very good deal for a well-maintained vehicle. You can search the internet and other classified ads for leads on used and brand new vehicles. If you are in the US, you have greater chances of finding good offers in your state or locale. For example, if you live in Utah or nearby states or area, you can search for used cars orem and you will be surprised to find a plethora of vehicles within your budget and preference. And if you look hard enough, you may even score a brand new car for a price of a used one. These vehicles will most likely be old models or surplus types. Do not let that turn you off because a lot of the old model vehicles and surplus ones have features which may not be present on the showroom models and they fetch for almost half or even 3/4 of the showroom and brand new kind.
So, if you are one of those contemplating to have a vehicle because of necessity, be wise in choosing. Be practical too. You don't have to drive a fancy sedan or even a limited edition of the same model you prefer. They may make you look good but be pragmatic on your approach to owning a vehicle that will lasts a long time without burning your pocket.
My hubby is really good in choosing car since his an engineer and he design cars as his job-so buying car I give it him as he knows what colour I want
ReplyDeletebuying a brand new car is expensive..that's why hubby and I prefer the used ones.
ReplyDeleteHelpful info for car buyers. you're quite right about Americans preferred vehicles. Most go for used but in-top form cars.
ReplyDeleteI agree, hubby is trying to talk me into buying a new vehicle but I am not ready to have monthly payments again.
ReplyDeleteI never drive a used car yet Sis :-) Fortunately, my husband buys me a new car (have a Chevy Malibu 2013) because it gives him confidence that the new car will give me a smooth drive especially if the kids are with me :-) I still have to learn some gadgets of my new car...used to drive a Honda car :-)
ReplyDeleteowning a brand new car for the price of used one is indeed a very good choice, we are not very confident in buying used cars since we (hubby and I) both have no idea about car maintenance, and the maintenance can be very expensive, but for those who are very good in cars, it's indeed a wise choice.
ReplyDeletenice tips!! i was supposed to buy a 2nd hand car but since i don't know yet how to drive i get off with the plan, hence i bought a parcel of land instead :) maybe i'll plan again next year if i have time to practice driving na:)
ReplyDeleteI agree, having a car is really a necessity here. Hubby gave me a FOrd SUV but still don't have the drive to learn how to drive :)
ReplyDeleteWe had to go through the whole process last year when we bought our first family car.. We already have 3 kids, so a bigger car was a must.. My husband's car is a Nissan Sentra, only good for family of 4.. 3 car seats in the back definitely won't fit in that tiny vehicle.. So, we ended up buying a new one.. And since my husband is also an expert when it comes to cars, I never had to worry about a single thing.. Thank God, we were able to get a really nice vehicle at a reasonable price! =)
ReplyDeletei did hear that having a car in US and Europe is a must. good thing everything is accessible by public transport in my side of the world. :)
ReplyDeleteI never had my own car but I plan of buying one hopefully soon. Nice tips here. Why go for expensive ones when there are a lot of affordable ones that also serves the same purpose.
ReplyDeleteTrue, cars are important in US and Europe, even though those countries have better good transportation system. But during autumn and winter seasons, it will be very uncomfortable to travel by bus and trains especially when you have kids.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of things to consider before buying a car. Ours is a used one, but since we bought them (4 years now), we never had a major trouble with it. Not to mention all the used cars here, maybe in US too, need to pass certain tests before selling or using.
thanks for the tip. our family never had a car yet, when we are in Penh, we don't have car...we rent depends on situation. here in Bkk, we don't have also, not good to have one, sobrang traffic, mas pa sa pinas but what good is, everything is easy lang naman kasi may subway at skytrain, may mga ferry rides din. :) but yes, someday, we hope to have one. :)
ReplyDeleteYay, I was not good in choosing cars, look what I got a second hand lousy car that I always send to the shop. I am into always budget but I ended up nothing yet I love my first second hand car, it takes me where I want but wag lang sosobra because it would am sure go to the repair shop lol...
ReplyDeletehere in US u can get a really cheap car. my hubby bought a car before for $100 only. and we sold it for 1,200$ . =D well we got lucky that time. =) but my MIL car was only $500, it is kinda old, but they are still using it right now. very cheap huh? my car is used as well when we bought. too expensive to buy a new car
