Turmeric? Sounds like a chemical substance in the periodic table, right? Well, turmeric (curcuma longa) or in layman, the curry spice that we use when we cook chicken curry is a bright and deep yellow spice which belongs to the ginger family.
Aside from using it as a cooking herb, it also possess medicinal properties that is beneficial to one's overall health. Some of its health benefits are:
- A natural antiseptic and antibacterial great in disinfecting wounds, bruises or cuts
- Reduce the risk of childhood leukemia
- Liver detoxifier
- Helps in the treatment of psoriasis
- Natural anti-inflammatory
- Painkiller and cox-2 (inflammation and pain) inhibitor
- Helps in fat metabolism and weight loss management
- Natural treatment for rheumatoid and arthritis

turmeric is my current fave. i love putting it in rice to give it that yummy taste + the awesome oh-so-natural yellow color. i also put it in abundance to my noodles + my tinola dishes :)
