Clearing Unwanted Stuff

10 years in Dubai and we have already amassed so much! I am clearing so many clothes from my closet, including old shoes and bags. I even cleared my husband's and daughter's closets to sell unused clothes, toys and footwear.

The books are another story. We love books so much so it is very difficult to part ways to some of my collections. I even saw my pregnancy books which I kept for posterity. I browsed through them and relived memories of my motherhood. I read few chapters again on how to product more breast milk, the trimester of pregnancy and how to adjust to a growing belly. I even unearthed old pictures of my bulging belly in one of the books I have kept. Ah, the memories. However, I have to be practical. I won't be needing those books anymore so they will have to go.

The kitchen is also a haven for unnecessary kitchen utensils to sell. I have gadgets which I never used like the egg beater and electronic can opener. The verdict - they will have to go.

If I keep doing this every quarter, our house may end up empty! It's good to do this once in a while. At least I get money back from the things we barely use. I am learning so hard to be more practical and minimalist.

Tight Clothing

I always make it a point to prepare the clothes I will wear at least a day before so I don't make bad combination. Unfortunately, I forgot to prepare my clothes last night. I hastily grabbed the blouse I could find with a neutral tone to go with my gray business suit. Well, I did not realize that the one I grabbed was actually tad tight. I felt like I was one of those ladies during the Victorian era with tight corsets around their bodies.

I lost weight for sure but I still have flab in my mid-section. That flab will not go away that easy. I need to work harder if I want my mid-section well toned.

So, the moral of the story, do not procrastinate! Always prepare your wardrobe in advance to avoid discomfort and wardrobe malfunction. Good thing, my buttons were still intact!

Autumn Cleaning

We just missed spring cleaning so we did an "autumn cleaning" few days ago. I cannot breathe with all the mess at home. I cannot believe how much trash we have amassed in a span of few months and most of them were unnecessary stuff like toys of my princess, magazines I bought and have read only once, old and "tight" clothes, seldom worn shoes and other knicks and knacks.

I just had enough of the trash so I sent most of my daughter's toys to my in-laws' place in the Philippines. I shredded my old magazines to be used for my pets' beddings. I am not sure yet whether I will send my old and tight clothes back home since I am still hoping that I'd fit into them one of these days.

I swear, I am really going to change my spending habits by 2009. I will no longer stack items I barely use and won't buy clothes and bags as often as I breathe ;) I cannot stand the mess anymore. I just want to be a minimalist. In with the essentials and out with the clutter.
