Choosing the Right Formal Dresses For School Events

Do you have a daughter who will have her school prom or any formal event happening in the coming months? If so, you may taken the task of dressing up your precious daughter with a lovely formal gown that is perfect for your daughter, and the occasion.

Choosing the right formal dress for your daughter is not a walk in the park but it's not that difficult. There are plenty of dresses out there that screams elegance, class, sophistication, and all comes with a hefty price tag. However, there are also some formal dresses in the market that is within your budget but looks tacky, too revealing, and the materials are substandard. Which one will you pick?

You can always find a suitable formal dress from many online shops that sell school formal dresses. You can stick to your budget without compromising the style, quality, and fit of the dress. So, how will you know which one is the perfect dress for your daughter?


Size

If you are going to a dress shop, it is best to take your daughter along so she could try several styles and cuts of dresses. Each dresses will fit differently depending on the dress style and pattern. If you are shopping online, you have to ensure that you follow the sizing chart available in the site and if there is an instruction on how to take the measurements, do follow it and jot down the measurements.

It is advisable to get a half or even 1 size larger than your daughter's built as it is easier to mend larger sizes than repair a tight one.


Style

Along with your daughter, decide on a style that will suit her frame and personality and without going on the boundaries of decency for a school event. It pays to be prudent too even if the norms these days are to show skin. Remember that this is a school function and less is more.


Length

Does she like a cocktail dress or a floor-length gown? Let her decide as long as it is within the confines of the school's event. Most school formal dresses are ballgowns. If your daughter wishes to stand out, an asymmetrical hemline will be perfect.


Colour

Darker colours are classic and very apt for a nighttime event. However, the younger generation shies away from the classic, darker hues and opts for pastels and lighter tones because it is more appealing to them. Let your daughter decide on the colour as long as it isn't too loud and calls for so much attention.

The After-Party

The party went well. I managed to silence the fluttering butterflies and saw familiar faces so it was easy for me to go around and chat with them. I met a couple of people in the same company as I am and managed to exchange pleasantries without feeling awkward. Everything was smooth.

The ambiance was remarkable with soft music to accentuate the nice glow of the chandelier. Too bad, I missed to take photos so I can post it here. Food was super. I was on a beehive on the desserts area... =)

All in all, I rate my experience with a 7 (10 being the highest). I was not disappointed at all and my worse fear did not happen. I thought I'd get stuck on a wall for the duration of the night and I ended up laughing my guts out with the other people.

I guess, I'll be in for another ride next year. Perhaps, I'll buy a fancier dress next time!

Cocktail Party

Oh boy, I have to go to a party tonight and I have these butterflies in my stomach fluttering so wildly. I know, I know... My blog is named It's My Party...ladidadida... and yet I am not a party-goer. I have never fancied parties at all unlike my husband who is so much of a party-goer. He seems to immensely enjoy the company of new people. I tend to be a wallpaper on such events. Hence, I don't like parties.

What's a cocktail party anyway? According to Wikipedia, it is a party where cocktail is served, and people are dressed to the nines. I reckon that it's a socializing party where you meet new folks and get to exchange pleasantries. It's also a place for merriment.

I know, I know... I do not like parties like my husband does but I go where he goes, right? So, in the spirit of camaraderie and being an able follower (hehehehe....just kidding!), I will go to this cocktail party and try my best to enjoy. As a matter of fact, I am "slightly" excited because I get to buy a new dress! Not a fancy one, something I can wear again on other casual occasions. I just hope I don't end up getting stuck on a wall like a wallpaper does!
