Wasted Guitar

Time and time again, we always fall to our daughter's whims. If it's not us, the parents, it's the relatives. She is not spoiled-rotten but oftentimes, she can get away with what she wants just like that.

Last year, my sis-in-law bought her a nice, pink guitar because "she wanted to learn" how to play the guitar. I even asked the nearby music school for her to enroll for her guitar lessons. Each time we go to the music school, she would make up excuses until I finally got it. She must have changed her heart.

I think my daughter is going through uncertain times being a teen ager. One day she wants to play the guitar with matching requests for fancy accessories like a hard case and some serious D'Addario guitar strings. Then few days later, she wants to learn karate or bake or sing. I am so confused but being a mother, I fully support what ever it is that will make her happy. I just hope she will finally settle her heart on what she really likes to do.

I feel a bit awful for the pretty guitar she has which is gathering dust in the corner of the room. I just hope that she'll come to terms with her aspirations in life and now is a good time to start sorting that out.

Musical Talent

I am not one of those who are born musically gifted or talented. I learned how to play the piano while I was very young but stopped. So, my fingers are quite stiff now to do it all over again.

We have a guitar at home which has been gathering dust for sometime because my daughter didn't push through with her guitar lessons. I am a bit sad because I thought she would have that musical inclination I wanted to have.

It is a good thing that we didn't buy her the fancy ones like the Epi LP studio kind with matching speakers because if we had, then it would have been a waste of precious musical instrument.

I am still hoping she will come around.

Music Summer Classes

My daughter's school term for the year 2011-2012 is about to wrap up soon. She only has 1 1/2 weeks to go to enjoy the long summer break. And I am already checking for fun activities for her to do during that period.

There is a nearby music school in my area. We checked the place already few months ago because she wanted to learn how to play the guitar. The music school is charging around US$70 for 4 lessons but with unlimited access to the musical instruments of their choice, use of music accessories like their epiphone les paul junior and KRK speakers, use of audio rooms for recording and piano pieces.

Now that she has her pink guitar, the next step to do is enroll her in guitar lessons. That is, if she still wants to do it. If not, I will let her decide on what to do this summer because it is a long break and one thing I am trying to avoid is for her to get bored.
