Organizing My Dream Home Photos

I was organizing my pictures last weekend and was surprised to unearth plenty of photos I have taken in the internet for our dream home. Some were downloaded as far back as 2002! That only means that I have been thinking about our dream home for a long time now.

I am just happy to see the pictures of the styles I prefer, the landscaped gardens, the cozy patio and even patio water fountains to add in the yard.

The house designs I have downloaded were outdated. I mostly took Mediterranean style houses with loads of terra cotta roof and bricked yards. House designs have already evolved and caught with the times. So, my preference for a house design is leaning to zen/contemporary style.

I have more photos to sort in my old drives. It will take a while to organize them but while I am doing it, I can probably segregate the ones the appeal to me the most and chuck the ones that are old-fashioned.

House Construction

We are waiting for the proper segregation of the parcel of property my in-law's gave us in Quezon City before we decide on the next step which is scouting for a great architect who will render the vision of our dream home.

Te next step will surely involve a thorough discussion amongst my husband and I because this will involve money matters and it is going to be a big one. It's not a joke to go through a house construction project because all our savings will probably go to that project and then some. We may end up taking a loan with Pag-Ibig fund to finance the project otherwise, we have to wait for sometime until we are ready.

Other things we are considering is the scouting of reliable contractors who will use safe and high-quality materials. They should have materials that are at par with building safety codes and the public municipality. I had to check some internet sites like www.reidsupply.com and other known manufacturers of high-quality equipment and supplies to aid in the construction of our dream home.

This project is the culmination of our dreams and I take this seriously. I will not compromise the design, safety aspect and definitely the durability of the house we have dreamed of and saved for all these years.

Abandoned Building Constructions

As we passed the Ajman emirate of UAE on our way home from Ras Al Khaimah; I cannot help but wonder on the abandoned clusters of steel buildings along the highway. I saw the billboard with the finished projected photo of the community being developed. Unfortunately, the recession must have caused the cessation of construction so some of the buildings were left half-way through the process.

It is very sad to see these abandoned development as they held promises prior to the onset of recession. Our friend even told me that someone she knows bought a property in the said halted development only to find out that the developer had gone bankrupt. All her lifetime savings went down the drain with no hopes of being recovered. Such a sad story for both the developer and investors.

Made of Steel

Not my heart, I can vouch for that. Well, I was just going over my friend's photos of her newly built steel building house. I was quite amazed by the progress and building materials used to construct her bungalow in one of the residential areas in the Philippines.

I remember watching my uncle and his staff construct our own house while I was young and noticed that the materials used then were different from the materials I have seen from my friend's photos. Her construction materials were mostly metals which you normally see on steel buildings. There were only few wood used. Wow! Times have changed and gone are the wood foundation you use on the roof. It is all steel, steel and more steel.
