House Construction

We are waiting for the proper segregation of the parcel of property my in-law's gave us in Quezon City before we decide on the next step which is scouting for a great architect who will render the vision of our dream home.

Te next step will surely involve a thorough discussion amongst my husband and I because this will involve money matters and it is going to be a big one. It's not a joke to go through a house construction project because all our savings will probably go to that project and then some. We may end up taking a loan with Pag-Ibig fund to finance the project otherwise, we have to wait for sometime until we are ready.

Other things we are considering is the scouting of reliable contractors who will use safe and high-quality materials. They should have materials that are at par with building safety codes and the public municipality. I had to check some internet sites like www.reidsupply.com and other known manufacturers of high-quality equipment and supplies to aid in the construction of our dream home.

This project is the culmination of our dreams and I take this seriously. I will not compromise the design, safety aspect and definitely the durability of the house we have dreamed of and saved for all these years.

Turn-Over Of Our Condominium Unit

My husband is in the Philippines right now to facilitate the turn-over of the unit and fix the interior of the unit we bought in Quezon City.

We bought some stuff to put in the small unit to make it habitable soon. He just bought a sofa for the unit and will purchase the other necessities soon. It is a small unit, approximately 46 sq.m. only. So, we won't put any divider anymore. It will become a studio flat with all the basic amenities.

Now that the flat is ours, we need to consider the intangible aspect of securing it like having it insured in case of fire or theft or even other events that is within the confines of the property and fire insurance scheme. I may consider asking for an annuity quote from the same insurance company so I know how much it will cost us to secure the property and our future.

Having a property is never an easy feat. However, the advantages out-weigh the disadvantages of owning one. Our next project now is the construction of our dream home. It may happen by the end of this year depending on the flow of cash. I hope when the construction starts, we have enough cash to go around so we don't have to take another loan.

Dream Home Illumination

Light fixture is one my favorite things inside a home. I am very fascinated by how a single light can put a certain drama or flair to a plain wall, painting or area in the house. Lighting can also emphasize a decorative item you want to showcase in your house or turn a dull place to a lively one.

Ever since we got the plot of land from my mother-in-law few months ago, all I can think about is the type and design of the house my family and I will enjoy and live in. I have been scouring the internet for beautiful lighting fixture I will put in my dream house. I am zoning in one particular brand and style - the Minka Lavery Lighting. My type of house design will be a marriage of Mediterranean and Contemporary pieces so the Minka Lavery Chandeliers will add a beautiful touch to my high-vaulted living room ceiling and dining areas.

The touch of flair does not end in the receiving and dining areas of my dream house. The bathroom is also one of the places I want to accentuate with drama. I want the area to be naturally-lit by daytime and well-lit at night with Minka Lavery Bath Lighting. There will be a wall sconce near the vanity area and small ceiling pin lights to focus on the beautiful marble counter top of the bathroom sink.

Beautiful Kitchen Sink

I have been looking around, snapping and collecting pictures of beautiful kitchens and the fixtures and appliances that will go with the plan. I saw this beautiful triple undermount sink and I knew that it would be the right kitchen sink for me.

I like the triple undermount sink because of its compartmentalized feature and the way I can organize my washing. I also don't like spills on the kitchen top so this kind of sink is the best for me. The price is a bit on the high end but given the clean cut and functionality, I think the amount of money paid for the sink is worth the investment.

Let's Swing!

I told my husband that as soon as I get my gratuity pay, I am buying a big residential lot. On that lot, I will build a house. And on that yard, I will have my small garden and swing set.

I just love playgrounds but I enjoy the swings more than the other fun rides you can find there. I remember growing up near a playground and every day after school, my siblings and I would run there and utilize our boundless energy. We would climb the monkey bars, go up and down the slide and push each other on the swings.

I know I may be old to ride in a swing but I am not disputing the fact that I may have grandchildren someday. It will be fun to see them use the swing set. My husband and I can also enjoy our couple time by holding hands while seated side by side on the swing.

I am posting a sample of my dream swing set and playground in my back yard. I hope it will materialize.
