I'm Getting Sickly Again

Well, I give myself a pat on the back for having an improved health after getting afflicted with pneumonia few years ago. My immune system did picked up several notches for the better and I had a good running with a clean bill of health. Not totally so clean. I still have terrible cholesterol level, overweight for my age and height and now, getting a wee sickly again.

I feel bad not going to work today. I had my stuff ready but when I woke up, I was still feverish and dizzy. I left work yesterday earlier because my fever was starting to cause inconvenience like watery eyes, hot temperature, dizzy spells and lack of appetite. Now, my fever has subsided a bit but my whole body aches like some giant just made me his/her punching bag. My whole body aches right now and I pray it will all go away as I get my health ready for the Tokyo trip in few days.

I think I am not giving myself the 101% care I used to. I just have too many things to do that I don't take enough time to really focus on my health and weight issues that is why my immune is getting low again. I better start eating healthy and do regular exercises. I noticed, I don't get too feverish when I was exercising regularly but now that I stopped again, my health and wellness is not very well. No pun intended.

Sick Again

This is my 5th sick leave for the current year. My immune system has been very cooperative for the past few years so I am a bit concerned why I am getting sick often lately.

I feel tired and heavier too. I must admit, my exercise routine is off the wagon again and it's my fault because I cannot commit regularly when I should. I haven't been eating properly too. I wish there's another way how I can be healthier and fit with a good immune system.

I'm just not happy being sick. I don't like sipping work but my body needs to rest. It's back to work for me tomorrow though. I hope I won't have any relapse.

Ester C - Vitamin C Supplement

My recent trip to NYC introduced me to a Vitamin C supplement brand which I have never heard nor tried in the past.  I got sick while vacationing there and was coughing, sneezing and having terrible migraine attacks. My immune system was so low that time so my cousin gave me Ester-C.

I got a bit curious because it's just a normal Vitamin C which I also take back home but not the same brand as the one she had given me. Ester-C is not the typical Vitamin C. It is a calcium ascorbate which is a unique form of Vitamin C. It is different from other generic Vitamin C supplements because it is made using a water-based manufacturing process that gives a pH neutral product that has naturally occurring Vit. C metabolites. Then the metabolites activate the Vitamin C molecules present, allowing the body to absorb them in the cells. This is vital to enhance immune system.

So, I took the 500 mg. tablet. What really surprised me was, I was expecting the weird side-effect afterwards in my stomach. Surprisingly, this supplement is quite gentle. I am already acidic so the last thing I need is to aggravate my acidity.

My only concern now is if the UAE sells this kind of brand here. I am not sure if I can order from the US and have it shipped here because of drugs/supplements importation law. I hope I bought the supplement there. I will check the local pharmacies here and see if they carry the brand. I hope they do because I will ditch my other Vitamin C supplements. I need something that will not irritate my stomach and will act fast in terms of improving my immune system and heart health.

Sick, Sick, Sick

For 1 and 1/2 years, I have managed to steer clear of any bouts with cough, colds, sinusitis, fever, flu and other usual suspects in making my immune down. It is happening again. If someone sneezes near me and I will catch the flu. That's how frail my immune system has gotten these past few days.

I am trying my very best to eat well, exercise regularly, meditate to relax my mind, and keep myself warm when necessary. However, I just get sick easily unlike other people. I was so good for the past 1 and 1/2 years without any use of sick leave because I was fine but now, a month away from the end of the year and I have used 6 days already.

So, I am so sick of getting sick. I just hope I'll finish the year without anymore bouts with colds, cough, flu, sinusitis and whatever. I just want to be healthy like most people.

Health Nut - Boost Immunity this Cold Season

Winter is upon us and not long from now, we will be experiencing seasonal changes that will affect our immunity.

People here always get sick when the seasons change because the wind coming from another region brings dusts, pollens, migrating birds and their bacterias and what-have-yous. The sudden change in the temperature also exposes people to other natural elements like extra moisture and cold draft. The human body have to adapt to all these and re-adjust to be able to battle the coming of the colder months.

So, even before the cold weather bites, try to follow these simple tips to boost immune system:

1. Eat apples - why you might ask? Well, apples contain pectins which are good in boosting the levels of immune-supportive proteins.

2. Get inoculated - I cannot stress this enough. Be prepared and have yourself and family vaccinated for influenza and other boosters which can aid immunity.

3. Wear warm clothing if the weather is cold and keep the head warm by wearing cap if you have to do a jog at the park early morning or in the evening because of the cold draft.

4. Exercise - a quick strut can boost one's immune system and the sweat helps in releasing toxins out of the body.

5. Have a good night's sleep - getting at least 8 hours of sleep a day will help stave off the sniffles during the cold season. Why not enjoy your comforter and bed a little longer?
