USANA's Proflavanol C For My Sinus

I have a chronic sinusitis. It has been like that for as long as I can remember. So, most days of the year, my sinus is blocked and I find it difficult to smell because my sinus is usually blocked and it's affecting my olfactory sense.

I am taking Vitamin C regularly. I feel that is not enough.  I still have blocked sinus. I tried using nose drops to unclog my sinus cavity and also prevent the pressure that builds up and causing my migraine most of the time.  This has been my cycle for many years. Unfortunately, I cannot take medication to relieve my sinusitis pain due to allergic reaction to most medications. I have to make do with whatever helps, albeit temporarily.

I want to get our of that cycle. I'm getting tired already. I want to drink something that will actually work and I have to do it quick because the season is changing. I don't want to keep blowing my nose to clear my nasal passages.

USANA's Proflavanol C is my answer.  I have been taking some of USANA's supplements but this is the first time I have taken Proflavanol C. I started drinking 1 tablet a day since January this year and I am pleasantly surprised with the results.  Seriously, I should have taken this before and I could have benefitted from the good results earlier.

Sinus-wise, I feel a lot better.  Why, you must ask? Here they are:

My sinus has cleared.
I can smell nicely now and not faintly unlike when my sinus was clogged.
No more painful face pressure and throbbing headaches due to sinusitis.

And here are the extras too!

My skin complexion is more pinkish than ever. I don't need any blush on, because it is a good source of anti-oxidants so it helps renew cells in the body.
I have better immune system. The season has started to change and I usually get seasonal flu this time of the year but I am ok. No coughing. No drippy nose and watery eyes.

Proflavanol C has good effects in your over all health.

Review - Nutrabear Vit. D 3 Gummies #nutrabear

I have received this product for free in exchange of my honest feedback.

My daughter prefers chewing her vitamins so I always buy her the chewable kind. I am glad to have tried this Nutrabear Vit. D3 gummies because I like the taste a lot! Even my daughter likes the taste. That's the first thing I liked about this Vitamin D3 gummies. It's also chewable so need to pop those pills or tablets that are sometimes difficult to swallow. They are sweet but not much and you can taste the peach and cherry flavours too.

It comes in 120 gummies so it's great for my family as we can share this supplement. This is a good supplement to take because we all need our daily dosage of Vit. D and taking these gummies provided us the required dosage.

Another plus factor is that this is good for vegetarians too. It does not contain any gelatin. It is also gluten free.

This supplement is also good in boosting immune system and supports bone health. So, we are taking these gummies regularly!

Natural Health Supplements to Keep You Happy and Healthy

Do you struggle to get through the day without umpteen cups of strong coffee? Are you normally falling asleep on your keyboard by 3pm? Do you catch every virus and cold going? If the answer is yes to all three of these things, you need to start taking some natural health supplements to give you an energy boost and help strengthen your immune system. So what are the best natural healthy supplements on the market today?

Whole Grains

Carbohydrates give us energy but when we consume a lot of the bad carbs (white bread, white pasta and white rice) it can leave us feeling deflated and sluggish later in the day. Whole grains are a much better way of enjoying an energy boost and if you replace some of your refined carbs with whole grains, you will soon notice the difference. Instead of eating a slice white toast for breakfast, have some whole grain toast with a poached egg on top. You will breeze through the day on a cloud of energy.

Moringa Tea

Dried leaves from the Moringa tree have lots of health benefits. Moringa is known as a ‘super food’ and is packed full of nutrients, including anti-oxidants, proteins, minerals, vitamins and amino acids. Taking a teaspoon of Moringa powder or drinking Moringa tea every day will boost your immune system and leave you feeling energised. You can add Moringa powder to your cereal or blend it onto a drink – either way, it will give you a great boost as the day progresses, which if you have kids will be most welcome!

Bee Pollen Granules

Who would have thought that the humble bumblebee could help us feel more energetic? Bee pollen granules are a surprising way to beat the mid afternoon energy crash. Bee pollen contains every nutrient you need to maintain health and wellbeing. You can mix bee pollen granules into food and drinks, or consume it as a liquid extract or pill.

Green Tea

The Chinese have been drinking green tea for thousands of years. Green tea contains bioflavnoids, which are a natural energy booster. If you drink green tea daily it will increase your metabolic rate and make you feel more energised – which is good for your mind and great for weight loss.

Coenzyme Q10

COQ10 is a naturally occurring antioxidant in the body, but it is also available as a health supplement. COQ10 is used to treat a number of different conditions, including chronic fatigue, high cholesterol and asthma, so it could be worth trying if you are feeling fatigue all the time.

Vitamin B12

Lots of us are deficient in Vitamin B12 without even realising it. Vitamin B12 converts carbohydrates into glucose energy, so a lack of Vitamin B12 will leave you feeling tired and sluggish. Taking a multi vitamin supplement that contains Vitamin B12 should perk you up no end.

Excessive fatigue isn’t normal so it is a good idea to have a health check-up if you are struggling to cope. Always consult a doctor before taking health supplements, especially if you are on medication or have existing health conditions.

Different Chewable Types of Vitamins For Your Kids

Kids are fussy when it comes to giving vitamins for them to swallow. If you have children who are 12 yrs and below, giving them supplements to add to their daily sustenance can be a challenge because some of them may find swallowing tablets daunting and other don't like the taste of the liquid form.

So, if you are faced with these kinds of issues and still have to give vitamins to your kids, consider the chewable forms. Vitamins these days comes in different sizes, colours and forms. Your kids may even find it interesting now to take their supplements if they see these:

Review - Herbtheory Mental Agility Herbal Supplement

Herbtheory is a manufacturer of supplements that are vital to one's well being. We tend to not give much importance to our brain's health and we should stop that. Just like any other organ in the body, our brain is the most powerful organ that we have that enables us to do the things that we do, to talk, walk and be normal like everyone else. However, stress is one of the biggest factor where our mental health is compromised a lot. We think so much and this stresses our brain power.

Supplements like  Herbtheory's Mental Agility is a good form of supplement to add in your diet. I have been taking the supplement for a week now and hopefully, I will see a good progress in my memory retention and concentration as I tend to multi-task even in my thought process. So far, I am able to concentrate fully without really trying so hard unlike before. It's just too soon to tell how good this supplement will be at this point but I can feel some improvement in terms of my focus and concentration.

The supplement comes in a plastic bottle containing 30 capsules. It is good for vegetarians and does not contain soy, salt, yeast, milk and egg products, sugar, artificial flavours, no colors or added preservatives too.

Herbtheory's Mental Agility capsules contains American Ginseng Extract, Polygala, Turmeric and Ginkgo. It is to be taken once a day with meal as a dietary supplement. If you are pregnant, has medical conditions or under treatment and taking medications, please consult your physician. And as a general rule, always consult a physician when taking new supplements.

Health Benefits of Pineapple

To be honest, pineapple is the least fruit I want to eat because it can make my tongue very itchy and there's always no guarantee that what I'll buy from the supermarket is sweet. So, I always pass this up when I buy my fruits in the produce section.

Thinking of its health benefits, I must admit that I do have to consider having pineapple regularly as it packed in nutrients with very little calorie. It is also cholesterol-free and fat-free and is very rich in Vitamin C which helps in lowering your risk in heart disease, cancer, gout, cataracts and stroke.

Since it is packed with vitamins and nutrients, it is good in improving your immune system and strengthen your bones and connective tissues because of its manganese level which is a trace mineral that helps in building and strengthening bones and tissues.

Include pineapples in your snacks or meals daily for a more healthy and nutritious diet.

Foods That Boost Your Eye Health

We tend to overlook one of the important senses we have been given - our eyesight. A lot of the younger generation now are wearing spectacle for poor vision caused by eye-strain due to prolonged looking at TVs, smart phones, gadgets, etc.

For the lucky ones who are still not wearing glasses because of their good eyesight, we can improve our eye health more by eating foods that are good for our eyesight. Here are some food we can include in our daily meals so we can get enough Vitamins A, E and D, lutein (an antioxidant which helps in preventing macular degeneration and cataracts), zeaxanthin (another form of antioxidant),  zinc (a mineral that helps the body produce melanin which protects our eyes from the harmful effects of UV light), omega-3 fatty acids,

Ways To Prevent Loss of Vision

Our sense of seeing is probably one of the most important senses we are trying to protect and preserve as much as we can. However, not everyone has been blessed with a good eyesight. I am really lucky (and much of it must be credited for eating the right food and not straining my eyes) to have 20/20 even in my early 40s. My daughter who is only 15 is already wearing a prescription glasses which goes higher and higher each year.

So, how do we prevent the degeneration of healthy cells in our eyes? Take note of these tips and prevent  vision loss and macular degeneration.

  • Take multi-vitamin with B6, folic acid, and B12, Vitamin C and E and zinc.
  • Take DHA omega-3 fatty acids supplement. If not, include omega-3 fatty acid rich food in your daily meal like salmon and avocado.
  • If you are on the heavy side, loss weight as people with high LDL cholesterol, high triglycerides and those with high blood pressure are linked to macular degeneration.
  • Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits especially those rich in beta-carotene like carrots, lutein and zeaxanthin.
  • Quit smoking as smoker have higher risk of developing macular degeneration.
  • Exercise and be active as this help nourish your retina with enough intake of oxygen.
  • Do not stare on your computer's monitor, TV, portable game consoles or any small device that can strain your eyes.
  • If you have a desk job which involves long hours of computer usage, try to gaze away from your monitor every 20 minutes and look at greeneries or cool colors like pastel ones to sooth your eyes.

Ester C - Vitamin C Supplement

My recent trip to NYC introduced me to a Vitamin C supplement brand which I have never heard nor tried in the past.  I got sick while vacationing there and was coughing, sneezing and having terrible migraine attacks. My immune system was so low that time so my cousin gave me Ester-C.

I got a bit curious because it's just a normal Vitamin C which I also take back home but not the same brand as the one she had given me. Ester-C is not the typical Vitamin C. It is a calcium ascorbate which is a unique form of Vitamin C. It is different from other generic Vitamin C supplements because it is made using a water-based manufacturing process that gives a pH neutral product that has naturally occurring Vit. C metabolites. Then the metabolites activate the Vitamin C molecules present, allowing the body to absorb them in the cells. This is vital to enhance immune system.

So, I took the 500 mg. tablet. What really surprised me was, I was expecting the weird side-effect afterwards in my stomach. Surprisingly, this supplement is quite gentle. I am already acidic so the last thing I need is to aggravate my acidity.

My only concern now is if the UAE sells this kind of brand here. I am not sure if I can order from the US and have it shipped here because of drugs/supplements importation law. I hope I bought the supplement there. I will check the local pharmacies here and see if they carry the brand. I hope they do because I will ditch my other Vitamin C supplements. I need something that will not irritate my stomach and will act fast in terms of improving my immune system and heart health.

Nutritious Nectarines

Green apples and nectarines

I haven't eaten nectarines in my life until yesterday. It was the first time I bought the peach-apricot looking kind of fruit. I am so amazed by the juiciness and delicious flesh of the fruit. I think this will become a part of our daily breakfast meal because it is loaded with vitamins and nutrients.

Here are the health benefits of nectarines:

Low in calories
Cholesterol free
Contains Vitamin C which helps build healthy immune system
A good source of antioxidants which helps protect the body from free radicals
Loaded with Vitamin A, beta carotene and potassium
Contains fibre which aids the healthy movement of bowels and better digestive track

So, if you haven't eaten nectarines yet,  now is the right time to include it in your staple.

Vitamin D Deficiency

Vitamin D is an important vitamin the body requires. It can be synthetic or derived from diet. It plays a big role in the system. If Vitamin D is insufficient in one's system, the following health risks may occur:

Rickets - a child's disease which affects the bones
Osteomalacia - similar to rickets but targets adults by thinning the bones
Diabetes - not having enough Vitamin D to process makes the body's ability to regulate insulin with difficulty
Heart diseases
Hypertension

Fabulous Shopping Spree in NYC

I cannot get over gushing over NYC. So pardon me dear readers because I just love it there. If only we can live there for good, why not? However, our life is back home so I guess, allow me to just swoon over NYC.

My husband and I have so much fun every time we visit the place. This time, it was just the two of us. Our daughter didn't feel like traveling. Anyway, I have never seen my husband so enthusiastic about shopping in New York.

We went to Duane Reade several times to buy some groceries and stuff to bring home. He even checked the pharmacy area and asked me if he could buy testosterone supplements or the protein shakes. I asked him if he was even working out and wondered "do testosterone supplements work?" He paused and put the jar of supplements and the protein shake can back on the shelf and took other stuff instead like vitamins for our daughter, fish oil capsules for both of us and other vitamins and supplements for our parents back home.   I bought Bengay for my aching legs and feet due to all the walking we were doing there. I also bought my goodies in Duane Reade because everything I wanted to bring home was there. So why go all the way to Walgreens to buy stuff when Duane Reade was just around the corner where we stayed?

We also went to TJ Maxx and Century 21. I had a blast in Century 21. That place saved us the time and hassle of going to New Jersey where Jersey Gardens is. We bought whatever we could in Century 21 near Ground Zero. I bought so many designer bags and wallets. I also bought clothes for my daughter, nephews and nieces. I bought watches like Kenneth Cole and Unlisted for my husband and brother. My husband had plenty of loots as well. And you think only girls go crazy when shopping! He had more stuff in his cart than mine, so who is the shopaholic now?

The shopping didn't end there. He had to go back to TJ Maxx to pick up more stuff for his family and went to NBA store on the last day of our stay in NYC. I forgot to mention, we also went to the souvenir shops near our hotel to pick up some trinkets to bring home for our friends and colleagues. The whole shopping experience in NYC was marvelous. I am used to shopping in outlet malls whenever we are in the US but knowing there are good finds within Manhattan in NYC will definitely save us time and money. We don't have to go to Woodbury Commons which is another premium outlet in New York. If we are buying branded and designer items then we may consider visiting the other outlet malls nearby but I guess, TJ Maxx and Century 21 are enough and what we need to buy is right there anyway.

Health Nut - Prenatal Vitamins

Pregnancy is one of the most elating feeling a woman can experience in her lifetime. I enjoyed being pregnant. I love the subtle changes happening to my body while going through the various stages of pregnancy.

Being pregnant does not entail just eating the right food which will give the proper nutrients a growing baby and mother need. A pregnant mother must also compliment her diet with prenatal vitamins so that she does not miss out on the important folic acid, calcium, iron and other important vitamins and minerals she and the baby will need while pregnant.

So if you have a "bun in the oven" and want to ensure the baby's health is just right, do not skip on your prenatal vitamins.

Sweet Pea, My Sweet Pea

I am not an avid legume lover but I do consume them every chance I get because I don't like the taste of green peas and some legumes except for peanuts. In fairness to that small legume, it does have very great benefits when taken. It's also bursting with nutrients your body needs.

Green peas are excellent source of nutrients and vitamins such as Vitamins A, B1 and B6, C, and K. It is also rich in protein, zinc, iron, potassium, phosphorus, niacin and magnesium. So, while I figure a way to eat it with gusto, why find ways to serve it together with your meals to add more valuable nutrients to your daily intake.
