Handmade Wedding-Congratulations Card

I love customizing cards because it makes it more special since I am making it based on the recipient's preference and interests. This is one of my favorite commissioned cards that I have made. It is for my husband's colleague. He is engaged to be married soon so I made this card for everyone in their office to sign up and write their well-wishes.

It took me more than 2 hours to complete this easel card. I had to sketch it first, figure out where the embellishments would go, how I would arrange them and what shapes to cut for the project. Let's just say, I am very satisfied with the outcome and so are the colleagues of my hubby. As for the soon-to-be-wed, they loved it. And this is why I love making handmade cards. It warms my heart to know people appreciate the time, effort, thought and love I put into making a single card.

The Perfect Duffle Bag

The bag from Posy Lane came in the mail three days ago! My daughter was eager to try and bring it to school. She did yesterday and here is what she says about the bag. And this is her first time to have this kind of big bag. We use big bags like duffel bags for our travels too but to use it in school is really something she looks forward to.

"Duffel bag... That was certainly a first for me. I personally take deep interest in collecting bags, especially if they catch my attention. I take that from my mom who is a serious bag hoarder! My mom asked me to choose a design from Posy Lane and somehow, this  particular duffle bag caught my eye. It seemed like a simple bag. Well, at least that's what I was thinking. But it was one of those personalized duffel bags where the bag is customized to suit your taste. And they nailed it.

For someone like me who's going through the angsty teen years where fashion is everything and comes first after looks, bags are a must. Mostly, I would have thought that carrying a backpack or a sling bag was helpful but eventually the books got heavier. Not to mention, it's a strain on the shoulders. With this duffel bag, however, was a completely different story. The color scheme and designs didn't only suit  my taste, but to my classmates as well. They said it was 'cute' and 'cool'. I agree. The bag managed to hold all my books and it didn't even make my shoulders hurt from switching sometimes.

The idea of having my name printed on the bag somehow made me feel elated. I mean, if I ever lose that bag, I'd be blind if I didn't see my own name printed in big, blue, block letters, now wouldn't I? All in all, this is a great gift form my mom courtesy of Posy Lane. Housewarming Gift Idea

Our good friend and her family moved to a bigger residential unit recently. We were there during the housewarming. My husband and I have realized that we have not given them any housewarming gift yet. I tried to recall what I have seen in her house. The place is furnished and I feel that none of the common things every house must have will appeal her.

I looked around and realized that there are other alternatives to just buying what we can find in the department store. I kind of like the idea of giving something very personal.

The internet is teeming with personalized housewarming gifts within my budget. There are sites which offer housewarming gifts under $20 and would even include free deliver. Unfortunately, we are here in Dubai so I think the shipping will be another matter to consider but I like the idea of giving something that will appeal to her and her family, something they can all share. I think a personalized photo frame which they can put on their console table near the entry way will be ideal. It can be a focal point on the table and a sure conversation piece.

Gift-Giving this Christmas

We have actually completed the gift-hunting and shopping last weekend in time for the coming of Christmas.

Most of the gifts we bought were for kids. Our families are loaded with children so I can imagine the merriment come Christmas morning.

I didn't do the Christmas shopping this year and have left the task to my husband. I did tell him what would be nice for the people in our list. We thought of buying personalized stuff too. Gift for Millie

Our loving and diva dog - Millie, is celebrating her 2nd Christmas with us. Last year, we didn't get her anything. I wanted to give something cute and "functional" to our four-legged baby. I scouted on numerous gift ideas for pets and narrowed my choice to personalized frisbees.

Dogs love to run in the park and play "catch" or fetch. A frisbee will be good for her. She will have heaps of fun running around and getting exercised as well. I hope the pet shops here carry some frisbees so there are choices. I'm not sure though if I can find a place to do the personalization of the stuff. If I were back home, this task would be a piece of cake!
