Small But Terrible - A Venomous Caterpillar

There's a cute and hairy caterpillar who is making a big buzz in the social scene because:

  1. It is cute.
  2. It is very hairy, just like J. Bieber's swaggy hair before.
  3. It is small.
  4. It is a caterpillar.
  5. It has a funny and weird name - puss caterpillar (seriously!)

However, don't let those description fool you because what's underneath all that fuzzy hair is a stinging venom greater than the sting of a jellyfish or a bee. It resembles a colored cotton ball it is very tempting to pick up and pet. Do not even do that!

This tiny caterpillar, also called Asp has hollow spines underneath its fur which contain venom. When stung, the affected area will get red, itchy and the affected limb will even have pain radiating up to the limb. The sting may also cause the person to perspire a lot, have abdominal distress, get dizzy, have difficulty in breathing and feel nauseated.

The puss caterpillar is generally found in the southern part of the US, Mexico and parts of Central America. This caterpillar turns into a moth commonly called the Southern Flannel Moth.

Seasonal Skin Blemish

The weather is getting quite cool here in Dubai. It is this seasonal changes where my skin breaks out in rashes and other skin irritations. My face even becomes more oily considering the weather is cool and it should make my pores a little tight.

I think I have to minimize the use of a rich moisturizer for now so I don't aggravate my skin. A use of
therapores will use help in staving future break outs to save my skin from further damage.

Maybe I should change my moisturizer into a light one so I don't get too oily or I can actually fry an egg on my face! I have also avoided using facial soap for the time being just to clear away the blemish and rashes.

My face is not the only affected area. Even my arms have small rashes. I think I got this from playing with the fall leaves in Staten Island few days ago. I remember kicking all the dry leaves and started to feel a bit itchy on some of my arms but not on the legs area. Hmmmmm..... I hope there was no poison ivy anywhere on the bunch of leaves I have happily kicked around.

Anyway, my seasonal skin blemish is causing a stir at the moment. I am careful with my food intake too. Lesser fatty and fried stuff and more on fresh fruits and vegetables.

I hope this skin blemish goes away fast. I feel very uncomfortable.

Itchy Feet

And the itchy feet is not mine! I just recalled how someone I know has itchy feet. Even with the itchiness, she would still wear rubber flip flops. The feet eczema she developed started from rashes after she had an allergic reaction to one of the flip flops she wore. It did not stop there. She would scratch the rashes so hard that they got sore.

I feel so bad for her because she has a very good complexion and a fair skin but if you look down to her feet - unsightly.

I told her many, many times to check with a skin doctor and to get eczema treatment for her feet. She would not listen. So, what started as an allergy has turned into a skin disorder because she did not do anything to alleviate the spread of bacteria.

Spotless Back

I really admire those ladies who can bare their freckles-free, pimple-free and not so hairy backs with pretty off shoulder blouses and tube dresses. I remember when wearing those kind of clothing when I was younger and blemish-free. I wonder what happened as I have gotten older. Although I barely get pimples on my face and I am very thankful for that. My back is another problem. Lately, I noticed some rashes which I think are small pimples. I wonder if I can find any good acne body wash here in Dubai. I just cannot stand having small rashes at my back. I can bear having freckles here and there but please not the zits!
