Best Online Games for SAH Moms

Let’s get one thing clear – Stay at home mums are busy. In fact, they are very busy. However, everybody needs a little thrill during the day and if you're at home rather than in the office, there is no reason why you can't amuse yourself or relax with a great online game or two.
However, here are some great ideas to you started.

  • The Hoff
Well, if you like the one and only David Hasselhoff, you will love this game. The Hoff’s winning smile among the thrill of slots is a winning production. The aim of this game from Betsson Casino is to uncover a winning combination of symbols when you spin the three reels on offer. In this case, land three grinning David Hasselhoff faces and you win. There are plenty of videos and bonus rounds to keep you entertained, too.

  • Super Crate Box

OK, so this might not sound like the most advanced, high-tech game out there. In fact, it is a little retro. If you remember the classic game Donkey Kong, then you have a pretty good idea of what the layout looks like. And yet, Super Crate Box is also enormous fun to the point that it is addictive. Your mission is to stay alive as long as possible as you come under attack by monsters. However, this is a counter-intuitive game where instead of slaying monsters, your task is to stack as many crates as possible. You may find what appear to be useful weapons inside the boxes, but you will gain more points by not killing the monsters and angering them further. Sounds crazy? Possibly. Great fun? Certainly.

  • Wunderputt

Don’t let golf put you off.  Yes, this is a golf-based game but it is a more magical and enchanting interpretation of the game than you could possibly imagine. Wunderputt is not just a round of mini-golf. It is the ultimate mini-golf challenge played in a fantasy 3D world. The course just keeps on unfolding with inventive surprises along the way. Don’t be surprised if a rainbow turns into an obstacle on the course or if a space rocket appears and hinders your game. It is all part of the creative and imaginative fun of this delightful golf challenge.

  • The Wikipedia Game
Interested in trying something completely different? While most online games focus on fantasy and adventure, the Wikipedia Game is an entertaining and at times educational game of discovery. It is most certainly an addictive experience. The rules are simple, just Wiki yourself from one random given subject to another in as few steps as possible. You might for example start off with Mike Tyson and need to find your way to Scooby Doo. It is also quite a social experience with plenty of people taking the challenge at any one time. Enormous fun and you may learn something along the way!

  • Auto Club Revolution
You don't need to be a petrol-head in order to love this game. Auto Club Revolution allows you to race cars or simply drive for pleasure using exceptional graphics. The range of luxury vehicles is huge, meaning that you can experience what it is like behind the wheel of the car of your dreams. You can also share the experience with a whole community of users, enhancing the experience even further. However, if you are into car mechanics, you can also give your chosen car a new look and tailor it to your exact preferences.

Infographic - College Fitness Regimen

This is a very interesting infographic geared to the young adults in college. For sure, exercising will be the least priority when in college because of the numerous projects, presentations and other extra curricular activities a college student engages in. However, just because a college student is studying and very active in school, their fitness must suffer. Contrary to that, college students can squeeze in some fitness regimen in their already busy schedules by taking note of this infographic from TheBestColleges.org.

Re-connecting With Old Friends

Who said Facebook is bad? Well, not me! I can be biased too you know. I just appreciate Facebook more now that I have lessened my gaming time and focus on socializing and connecting with family and friends. And very recently, I got to reconnect to close friends I have lost contact with when I left the Philippines.

I am very glad that this social network site is running and able to connect people all over. I know others still don't like Facebook. It depends on how you use it and how you set your privacy settings. I have set mine closed for friends only so other people cannot view my profile just like that. You can be secured in Facebook too as long as you check your privacy settings regularly.

I do not glorify Facebook though. I am just glad that it can act as a channel to bridge the gap of long-lost pals and family members. It is also a great avenue to use when you need to communicate to them in one go, aside from the email of course.

I am so happy my close friends found me here again. It is so nice to relive the happy times and go forward knowing that this time, they are there to move with me. Happiness!

I Don't Like Cooking

It is a public knowledge that I am not fond of cooking or anything in the kitchen. I just don't have the passion to engage in cooking. I realized this early in life when my mother used to cook savory dishes for us and my siblings would gather in the kitchen to watch her cook. I would stay in my room  and read books instead. The kitchen and cooking didn't appeal me.

As I got older, I thought my perception and feelings about cooking would change when we had Home Economics subject in high school. My classmates would get so excited and I would shrug my shoulders and roll my eyes. I remembered the "siopao" (steamed buns with filling) I made. It didn't even rise even after I steamed it. It looked like one gooey, over-sized dumpling! I dread every minute I had in Home Ec!!!

I met my boyfriend (who is now my husband) and thought it was time to cut the slack and start "impressing" the future in-laws. I managed to cook some dishes for my in-laws then with the help of a cook book but it fizzled so fast. I must have cook 2 dishes during the whole time my hubby and I were dating. I couldn't force myself to like cooking. I don't know why.

Then the time came where we got married. I remember telling my in-laws to "accept me for who I am" because I will never learn how to cook. I guess they didn't have a choice because I set those words in stone.

Fast forward now, I am happy (not so proud but not ashamed) to proclaim that I still don't like cooking. Don't get me wrong. I am not starting a new feminist movement here but I believe that to like something, you have to have a passion for it. I did try but it always ended catastrophic! I almost burned the whole kitchen when I was just trying to cook a scrambled egg. I have done a lot of bloopers in my life in the kitchen. So for the love of life, don't leave me in the kitchen because everything will be chaotic!

I tried to cook for sometime for my family but it just doesn't seem sincere providing cooked meals for them when I know in my heart I am forced to do it because of an obligation. I make up for this by doing the other heavy household chores like washing the dishes, cleaning the house, caring after them and our pet Millie, doing the laundry and pressing the clothes. I fulfill my wife and motherly duties by doing other things at home. So, it is still fair because what I do is more strenuous than cooking.

There are moment when I take a lot of guts to conquer my dislike of cooking by researching on easy-to-cook recipes in the net. I managed to pull off some "edible" meals but the bursts of will-power to cook comes far in between.

You must be wondering who does the cooking at home. Well, who else - my darling husband. Mind you, he is an excellent cook.  Good thing though, my daughter picked her dad's cooking skill. I think we'll stick to the status quo.

Golfing in Dubai

Golfing in Dubai is one of the perks of the "can-afford" group of the society. Some golf course here are not as expensive as what people think. It's the cost of membership and golfing lessons that bothers me.

My husband took golfing activity briefly in the past. He got great deals on golf lessons from a friend but the heat and strenuous effort you have to exert to play the sport bothered him. And if you want to play well, you have to consider acquiring the accessories to help you improve your swing and the whole game itself.

He bought nice golf clubs and the whole nine yards. He had clothes to match the sport. He did not have any gadgets though. He realized that there were high-tech accessories to use in which golf gps is just one of the gadgets used.

I am quite relieved that he stopped the sport. It is taking so much of his time and the weather here in Dubai can be very merciless. His other friends still enjoy golfing regardless of the season and heat. Now that's what you call die-hard golfers.

The Planking Craze

Planking is the recent craze of people these days. It is an activity where the person lies face down with his or her hands and arms to touching the side of the body.  The person must be photographed and uploaded to some social network sites or electronic album as part of the game.

I have seen a lot of people doing this weird pose and sometimes I am amused. However, recent plankers have taken the activity to a new level by planking to posts, balconies, light poles and even McDonald's signage. It was reported in Australia that a man plunged to his death by planking on his apartment's balcony.

It is okay to do this safely but when you cross the boundaries of safety and logic then I think this craze is a crazy one! No pun intended.

Wii Sports

It has been a while since I played wii at home. I remember having sore arms and legs the next day when my daughter and I had a sparing at the ring on our wii sports game.

Wii Sports is really a game to make you active. It has tennis, baseball, boxing, and golf. You can also keep track of your activities by going in the Fitness section. I really like that game.

My daughter said if I combine my workout with Wii fitness, then I will have twice as much calorie-burning action than just running around the park.

Circus Camp in December

When I was young, about 4 or 5, I remember jumping around, doing cartwheels, splitting and bending my body until I reach the floor. I was very flexible and quite puny so my mom thought of enrolling me to a gymnasium class. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and probably lack of fund, that dream went down the drain.

Now, I see my dream in my daughter's eyes whenever she watches those ladies doing ballet, somersaulting gymnasts and the acrobatic acts of the circus performers. She is lanky and very petite but I find her tall to be actually doing those stuff. I know she wants to do some of the acrobatic tricks because she loves cartwheeling when she was younger.

Maybe I will check out the circus arts camp in New York this December. That will be a great opportunity to show her around the summer camps Westchester area. My cousin lives in New York so I think a drive to that place will be a bonus attraction to my daughter's Christmas wish this year.

Well, I know it's winter and all but it's not bad to think about the summer camp activity my daughter may engage in the future. Who knows, she may just decide to study in the US and take up the summer camp westchester fun!

Something to Write

Writing is one of my favorite pastime. It has always been a penchant of mine even when I was young. I remember filling journal after journal after journal. I would write on anything I can get my hands on.

When I was in high school, I remember seeing a unique and remarkably eye-catching ad that read "the essay for sale is on!" I had a light bulb moment there and I knew I could make money out of my hobby. I started offering my mini-writing and research service to my family and close friends.

My first client was my sister. She did not have the patience and the passion to write so I wrote her a research paper. Since researching was also a part of my favorite things to do, the whole process of organizing the number of data I had collected for her research paper went like a breeze. I felt like a mini-sleuth on a mission! I had fun!

More family members and friends asked for my writing service and I managed to complete the tasks without compromising my studies. I enjoyed writing for them because at the same time, it also fed my fervor to write.

Well, it is a different ball game now. I still love to write and I do it as often as I can in the form of blogging. Writing will always be a part of my regular routine.
