Gifts for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is around the bend. I am thinking of what to give my own mom for this special occasion because I have not been sending anything to her lately. A little gift here and there can actually make her smile and feel appreciated.

I have been scouring the internet lately of the best gift to give her. I am checking ideas and Proflowers coupons to use for the special day because my mom deserve's the best.

On the top of my list is a trip to Macau or Singapore if she's up to it. Another gift idea is to send her money to spend on what ever she likes. Then I feel a bouquet of flowers with boxes of purses and clothes will be unique and sweet. I don't want to get her fancy jeweleries because she seldom go out of the house. I am very tempted to just ask what she wants. The gift-hunting will be a lot easier! Come to think of it, I am a mom too. Will I get gifts from my hubby and daughter?

I remember wearing rain boots when I was a kid. In my very young and innocent mind, I thought rain boots or galoshes are only for kids and the workers who clean up the clogs on the side streets. I was so wrong!

Now, galoshes are making a comeback in a more fashionable note. There are many colors and patterns of designs to choose from. It used to be just black or red when I was young. Now you can get fancy with plaid-printed galoshes or even floral.

Girls Talk - Accessories

This is the right opportunity for me to say that "my husband is so lucky to have me as a wife." And why did I say that without a taint of modesty? (wink...wink) Well, it is because I am not a big jewelry person. I don't mind nor am bothered not being presented with expensive jewelries or watches or any other accessories known to women. I prefer the simple beaded-kind of necklaces which I wear to work and casual occasions. My husband even insists of buying me stuff but I just shrug it off. Isn't he so lucky?!? hihihihihii...

Well, since it's Accessories theme for our GT's topic, I am posting my collection of inexpensive beaded necklaces I got from family and friends. Most of them were bought in Manila but some were given by my friends elsewhere around the globe. There's really not one particular fave of mine. All of them are worn regularly depending on my mood and what type of cloting I am wearing that time.

Lastly, I am not a big fan of watches too. Although there is one watch that I wear everyday because it is very special. It's my hubby's 12th wedding anniversary gift to me. It is actually a "his and her's" watch so he also has the same kind but a bigger one.

Girls Talk - Dresses

I love dressing up. As a matter of fact, I love dresses, the LBD (Little Black Dress), the wrap-dress, the sheath, baby doll dress, empire cut, you name it. I will wear it! Back when I was a lot slimmer, I used to wear wrap-dress because it flatters my petite body. Now that I am rotund (and healthy!), I wear more loose kind of dresses, flimsy, flappy and flowing.

I love this dress that I posted here. It's actually a "long blouse" for the tall ladies and a short dress for a teeny-tiny person like me! LOL. A good friend gave this to me from London few months ago and it falls few inches above my knees which I think is great. It elongates my rather short legs. Like they always say in fashion, if you are short, the more you should show skin. Amen to that ;)

I can't wait for winter to come so I can wear this with my favorite boots which I posted in GT - Shoes. ;)

I am not a big collector of shoes but I do have some which I bought many moons ago and they are still in tip-top shape. When it comes to shoes, I do buy mostly leather because of its durability as I walk with a shuffle. Hard to explain!

These 3 are my favorite shoes to wear in the office. The boots is worn only during the cooler climate here so it is in good condition. The other 2 are my fave high-heeled shoes. I love wearing high-heels because I am short ;)

Girls Talk - GIRLS OVER BOYS: Things women can do that men cannot

I have so many reasons running wild in my head which can possibly bump the guys out to oblivion in terms of doing things that only women can do.

• For one, we conceive, carry another life in our womb and give birth.
• Second, women are so good multi-tasking. I can type, engage in a decent conversation and read at the same time. I don't know how I do it but I know I am good at it ;)
• Third, women are passionate beings. We are the heart of our family. We feel for our loved ones. We do not deny ourselves of the various human emotions. This is the reason why,more men are in the "cuckoo ward" because they suppress their feelings.
• We can shop for hours on end on our high heels without feeling tired. Shopping is tantamount to a guy's gym session.

Well, I'll keep the other reasons to myself lest I be condemned by the male species...hehehe. Joke!

I love blushing naturally because it flushes my skin like pale pink giving me an instant glow. Well, we don't blush every single time so what must a girl do to get that "tickled-pink" look? Here's how:

Gone are the days when women's roles are mainly doing household chores and seeing to it that their husbands and families are well looked after. Time evolved and so are the roles of women.

When I was in my university days in the Philippines, I didn't hear much about leadership program focused on women. There were seminars about strengthening the roles of women in the public sector but not much about a program that will enhance the power of women. I am so relieved to learn that a program as such exists nowadays.

The Elizabeth J. Somers Women's Leadership Program further strengthen the role of women in the present time. This program is geared to delve on issues about women's leadership and its impact on the intellectual, social/political aspect and the arts which are centered on the women of today. WLP or Women's Leadership Program is a y ear-long program where students engage in classroom activities learning the theories of leadership and participate in seminars. The students are housed together in dormitories located at Mount Vernon Campus in George Washington University. The place boasts of green scenery, federal style academic buildings, sports fields, libraries and housing units and support facilities needed.

I salute WLP for paving the way to recognize women's worth and their roles in the society.
