My Husband's Office Party

My husband's department is a cool one! They always have the best parties in the best places. Just this weekend and the night before my birthday, my hubby, who helped organized the party had it celebrated in Crowne Plaza Hotel Dubai Festival City where we also booked a room for the whole family for the night. It was a great birthday gift from dear hubby since it is a very posh hotel here.

Anyway, I saw the preparations from setting the chairs and tables, from fixing the sound system including the elaborate profire 2626 mixer, the DJ booth, the lighting and the food and bar!

It was fun seeing the party goers with their best Disney character costume. My husband wore Capt. Hook costume, well, an improvised one and the others came as the Disney princess. One even came as Lion King!!! What fun!

I got caught up with the household chores yesterday (11 Jan.) that I missed to post this earlier than intended. Sorry honey!

I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your loving, generous, kind-hearted ways. You don't say "it" much but I know and I feel it.

And of lately, I may have been insufficient at expressing myself with words so I make up for it by making sure you have your toothpaste on your toothbrush every morning, your undergarments ready for the day, your socks all paired up, and your office wear are well pressed and the other little things which help you get by. I know I don't prepare your meals when I should. I just don't cook the way other wives do. I don't have that talent and I'm really humbled by the fact that even when I try my best to cook for you, you try your level best to accommodate my bland dishes. And with all my short-comings and imperfections, I want to thank you for loving me anyway.

Happy 16th Anniversary Honey. I pray that we may have more blessed and blissful years of togetherness.

The Birthday Boy

It's my husband's 42nd birthday today. I am quite surprised that for once, we are not throwing any lavish party this time. We just had a simple family dinner at home. We ordered from one of our favorite restaurants and decided to stay home and enjoy each other's company.

My daughter and I presented our small gift to him a while ago. I just love the look in his face when he saw his birthday gift. It's simple but very functional. We bought him an iPad/iPhone flash disk. It's the first time I saw the product and ever since he got hooked with Apple products, our gifts have revolved around that.

He's tinkering with his iPad/iPhone flash now as I write this. I can't help but smile because he just appreciates anything you give him no matter how big or small. To him, it's always one of the best gifts he has ever received for his special day.

Valentine's Day Gift For the Man of Your Life

The Christmas and New Year's holiday hustle and bustle has calmed down. We are in for another special occasion to celebrate in few weeks time. I am sure everyone is familiar with this romantic day celebrated globally - Valentine's Day.

Couples are already planning and asking around for favorable Valentines day presents to give their better halves, partners or sweethearts. The internet is buzzing with offers and promotional deals for people who wish to purchase their special gifts online. This saves them time, hassle and even money because of the great deals offered.

Like everyone else who wants to make their partners happy and special, I checked the web too for valentine's day gift for men and have found several hits. There are categories to choose from like gifts for the sporty, the romantic, the professional, the nature lover, the fashion-conscious, the food and wine expert and the gadget and high-tech fanatic. 

The gift-giving trend for this romantic occasion has really evolved over the years. We have plenty of options and gift-giving has been creative too. An example of that is a hot-air balloon ride for the nature and adventure lover or a ride on a speeding jetboat to the sporty man of your life.

Off to the Airport

I am still dizzy but have to snap out of this morning disorientation because I have to drive my husband to the airport in a short while. Good thing about driving in the morning is that there are few motorists on the road and it is not traffic. I can easily zoom home.

My hubby's going to pick our daughter from Manila after her one and a half long summer vacation. I am sure that she is very thrilled to be back in Dubai because she'll get to see Millie again and her friends in school. 

Okay, I have to sign off for now. I will be the driver today.

Tomorrow, 20 June is Father's Day. I would like to greet my dad who is no longer with us a special Father's Day because he had been a pillar of hope for my family. He worked hard and gave his all to give us a good life. I am thankful Tatay! I know that you are watching over us all the time. I miss you so much specially on times like this when we celebrated special occasions and you were always leading the way. I just want you to know that even you're not here, your loving legacy is remembered.

I would also like to greet my husband who has been giving us his support, love and care unconditionally. The one person who truly makes me see that life is worth living. A positive force in my life. A beacon of hope, a person of love. I love you honey and your daughter and I are thankful for your love.

This goes out to my brother as well who is working hard to give his family a bright future. I can see your sacrifices. Keep it up! You are a wonderful person.

And to all the great fathers out there and the fathers-to-be, this day is for you for the wonderful contributions you make to your family and the society.

Handmade Card - 40th Birthday Card for Hubby

I didn't buy him commercial cards you just pick from the lot. I made him a special one from the heart and loaded with love. Here's the card I gave my hubby on his 40th birthday last Thursday. He loved it! One comment though from the celebrant, "Ma, it is so 'right in your face'!" Is it?!?

On Finding the Right One

I am feeling romantic these days. Hmmmm... Could it be due to our recent wedding anniversary? Or, I am just a hopeless romantic? Whatever the reasons are, I just feel like sharing this wonderful quote on finding love. However, I cannot recall where I read it and who said it so sorry if I couldn't give credit. The quote is so lovely though.

"THE KEY TO SUCCEED IN MARRIAGE IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'S LEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND."

Nice right? That's the reason why I try my level best to overlook the imperfections of my very own marriage. I know my hubby's not perfect nor close to the ideal man I had in mind then but he makes me whole. I remember when we were still dating and I discovered how different we were in many, many things. I almost backed out but those differences made us connect. We learned to accept each other as two individuals with unique tastes. Those differences made our marriage colorful. So, I'm glad I didn't marry the guy I thought was "right" for me, instead, I married the man who made my life complete.

Well, I don't have to spell it out... I love you honey more that I can express myself. I am thankful for all these years, for the love, the company, for being the kind of husband and father our family could ever ask, for being there when I need you, for putting up with my crazy antics every now and then without a word, for being patient and kind, for making me laugh, for drying my tears, for listening to my woes no matter how insignificant they are, for loving me despite of my many imperfections, for taking good care of us, for providing us our needs and ensuring we are secured and safe, for taking me and our princess to places I thought I'd only see in pictures, for believing in me, for hanging in there when my world was falling apart, for being my rock, for being my solace, for being my friend... Not instantly though because I was still quite fresh from a break-up with my ex-bf of 3 years and was still harboring pains. I was practically not paying attention to anyone then.

Yes. We hang around in groups a lot and had so much fun.

What was the sweetest thing he did for you?
He'd cut classes to pick me up from the university where I studied.

What are the things about him that you are thankful for?
He is a very patient man. The one who always put up with my crazy mood swings without complaints. He will run errands for me and sometimes do the laundry when I am feeling really lazy without giving second thoughts whether or not his "man-ego" is getting affected. He always cracks me up and leave me catching for breath when he delivers his jokes. He bears with me when I drag him to the mall and he had to follow me around while I decide which items to buy. He is my pacifier when I am at my wits-end. We share the love for travel and music. I just love the guy...

The Other Half Of Me

I remember going out with friends on group dates while I was still available. I used to have dinner with pals and their boyfriends and being single then, I felt left out. I felt something was missing which I just could not point out because I didn't know what it was and that a part of me was not complete. However, I would go to the malls alone, eat alone in restaurants and felt the curious looks (those side glances...you just knew there were eyes on you...) of people around me. I thought there wasn't wrong being alone and able until I got married.

I got married 11 years ago and since then, my life has never been the same. I no longer view myself on a "me-me-me" situation but on a "we-we-we" basis. What I used to think of fun while I was single is not in my vocabulary anymore. I used to be independent and self-reliant. I could do things on my own without asking any guy for help. I suppose I was just too independent then. Now, being married to my husband for a long time has given me a better understanding of what co-dependency means and how two, totally different people, can actually live with each other, raise a family, have fun and do things together in a better light.

Marriage is all about that anyway, the synergy of two bodies, two minds, and two hearts. Now I know where my other half is...
