Thank You Lord for my 42nd Birthday

Another birthday, another year. I hope this time, I will be more appreciate of what I have and will learn more from the mistakes I have done in the past. I also hope that this year, I will truly give my health a chance because it went spiraling. All my fault but I'm not getting any younger.

Each year, I strive to be a better person. It's not always easy but I kid you not, I try. Each year, I thank the Lord for this precious gift that sometimes I take for granted. And God never fails to shower me His love and blessings inspite of my shortcomings. I fail, I trip, I make mistakes but I change. I wish to change for the better, if not the best. I may not be the best daughter for my mom, the best mom for my daughter, the best wife for my husband, the best friend for my pals, the best employee for my boss but I guess, I am one of the best in the eyes of God.

I want to thank everyone who greeted me on my special day. You've made my birthday so wonderful!

Thankful For The Many Blessings

I have so much to be thankful for. I may not have a fat bank account nor material wealth to boast but I am thankful of many, many things that we always take for granted.

I am thankful for my family and friends who love me for who I am.
I am thankful for the small little dog who keeps us all company and shows her unconditional love.
I am thankful for my job because it provides for our livelihood.
I am thankful for each waking moment to face a new day with new hope.
I am thankful for the sun that rises and the stars and the moon at night that shines .
I am thankful for the cool breeze that blows its comfort on my face.
I am thankful for the plants everywhere for providing clean air.
I am thankful for the animals around for they equalize the eco-system.
I am thankful for the opportunities that come my way because God knows what to provide.
And I am really thankful for the gift of life that God has given and I will continue to be thankful for so many things because I have been blessed.

Every Opportunity Is A Blessing

I used to have that notion that the only thing you can consider a blessing are those opportunities that give you plenty of money in return or the ability to purchase the things you want and live the comfortable and luxurious lifestyle you think you deserve.

For many years, I have accepted that concept to be materialistic and somewhat narcissistic. Little did I know that blessings come in various form. A blessing is not always about money, the high-paying job you have, the luxurious lifestyle you live and the famous people you are connected with. It's about those little things that money cannot buy - the love and support of your family, the comfort of your simple home, the good health, the camaraderie of those people you respect and are true to you and added to that is the other blessings that come in the form of opportunities in your career and business. And even that proverbial saying that when a door closes, another one opens show us the real meaning of being blessed with other opportunities to take.

It has taken years for me to really understand that. So, I am happy to say that I am blessed whether there are paid assignments in my blogs or none, or because I got a positive mail from my sponsors or simply because I woke up again to another bright day, full of hope, surrounded by the people I love (and my furry baby Millie). That in itself is truly an opportunity and I am blessed.

Thank you Lord for making me understand that not all material things make up an opportunity.

I have been blogging for sometime now. During that time, I realized how blessed I am for having the chance and time to do what I love to do. And in the process, I have not given a chance to acknowledge the reason why my blogs are still online. I do appreciate my commenters but I have not dedicated a post to all my subscribers, readers, followers and commenters on their loyalty and support because without them, my blogs won't even stay afloat.

I hope you are enjoying your stay in my blog. I also hope that I have touched your life in a positive way through my experience and advise. And I also hope that you have learned so much from me and will be able to apply what you have learned in your own personal life.

Ask, Seek and Knock

The past few days and months have been very quiet in my blogging activity except for some giveaways here and there and the usual blog posts I do in a regular basis. However, the assignments that usually line up for few days in my list of things to do before are now becoming less frequent.

I read the verse in the bible that says "Luke 11:10 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." And so I did.

I asked God for more blogging opportunities to come. I sought for His grace and I searched for bloggers who are in need of ghost writers and then, I knocked on His door for blessings and graces. I only ask of these things because blogging is one way of keeping me grounded. Aside from the passion I have for writing and blasting away these thoughts, I get to earn from the thing that I love to do.

And so, Sunday rolled by with much blessings because God has opened the doors of opportunities for me. What used to trickle like a mist on a leaf has become a rain of blessings in the forest. For that, I am very grateful.

Thank you Lord. You really know what I need. I pray that this continues so I can help others as well.

Giving Thanks Today

It's so nice to wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and relaxed after a long and taxing work week. And what's so great about this morning is that I thank God for another day, for the beautiful weather, for the family beside me, for a quirky little pooch sleeping on the foot of the bed, for the cozy bed, for the home, for the food on the table, for the warm clothing and there are just too many to be thankful for. 

I don't have to wait for Thanksgiving to appreciate everything around me for today is another day and I shall live it to the fullest!

Hearing Sense

I am very thankful for God's blessings because I almost got deaf. I had an accident 9 years ago back home. Actually, my daughter wanted to surprise me. She was only 5 years old then. She told me to lean to her and that she was going to give me a surprise. She even made me close my eyes. Of course, who would ever resist a child's very sweet and loving request?  I gladly obliged and next thing I new, I heard a very loud "toot" on my right ear. I remember crying in pain and actually heard continuous ringing in my ear after she blew a horn to my right ear. Then suddenly, all I was hearing was muffled and faint sounds. I knew she didn't mean to. Then I had fever the day after and my ears bled. I knew that wasn't good.

I had to see an ear specialist because I couldn't hear anything on the right side. I was constantly tripping and had difficulty listening especially in a crowd where people would talk all at the same time. At one point, I had considered the use of hearing aids. I remember going to work with an ear patch because of the topical medication and ear drop. It was a bit messy and unsightly but I could care less. Having my hearing again was my main concern so if I had to walk around with some cotton balls stuck in my right ear, I would do that.

The accident left my right ear drum slightly scarred and I had to go through years of treatment to improve the hearing. I was partially deaf for 3-4 years after my daughter blew a horn to my ear. I patiently went through the treatment and felt the improvement because I can hear again. It is not 100% perfect but I settle for the fact that my hearing is back, say 70%. That's not a bad percentage!

So now, I appreciate every senses the Lord has given me because I have felt how it is to be partially handicapped. It is not easy. I have great respect for those who don't make their handicap an excuse to do the things they set their hearts on.

The Simplest Blessing

I sometimes forget how blessed I am when I feel the little nuisances of life. Complaining on the littlest discomfort is so easy because I tend to look about how I feel without considering the feelings of others.

Today is a good day to change my perspective about life's discomfort and put my place in the shoes of other people.  I just finished doing the laundry without a sweat because I used a fully automatic washing machine. So, I shouldn't be complaining, right? However, the next part was the one that I was trying to avoid given my right shoulder's painful condition and the extreme weather outside (46 degrees Celcius at 11:56 a.m.). I didn't have a choice because I wanted to maximize the hot weather so the clothes could dry fast. I opened the veranda door and the hot air filled the room instantly and I started sweating. It was like standing in front on an open oven door. That is how hot the weather is right now. And then I saw them - the workers. Right in front of our building is a steel fabricating company. I saw the workers in their dirty jumpsuit with towels on their heads working, hammering steels, driving forklifts and doing their day-to-day routine. And there I was, standing on the veranda with our living room airconditioning unit on, putting the clothes to dry in the line for only few minutes and complaining already about the hot and humid weather. My inconvenience and discomfort is so insignificant compared to their hard work and sacrifices to support themselves and their families. It is 46 degrees Celcius outside and they are working, I cannot compete with that.

I took my camera and instantly snapped them. It will always be a reminder for me to not complain and be thankful because I have it easy. This is a testament of how blessed I am and I don't have a reason to doubt it. Thank you Lord for allowing me to see this new perspective in life. And please Lord, bless those hard working labourers outside who have to endure the hot weather to earn an honest living. Bless them all and give them a break.

Thankful This Thanksgiving

There are so many things to be thankful for inspite of the tremendous challenges we are all facing in this bleak economic times. There are still great things which we can call as God's blessings that we should not take for granted.

As for me, I am grateful for the roof over my head, the food on my table, the clothing to make me warm, the love and support of my family and friends, the love and loyalty of my dearest pooch, the job that provides for the financial needs, and the challenges which make me a stronger and better person.

I am very thankful for the gift of life. Every waking day I have is a testament that God still believes in humanity and that we are still His sons and daughters making a big and hopefully, a positive change to the world we live in.

I am very grateful for all of these and I will continue to be thankful for all the littlest blessings because that means I am still alive to appreciate all of them.

Thankful and Blessed

Ah, the warm feeling of being loved is enveloping me right now. I have tons of phone calls, text messages and greetings posted on my Facebook wall today. I am truly blessed!

I am overwhelmed by the number of people who greeted me and went out of their way to convey their well-wishes for my 39th birthday. I thought it would be a quiet day but my sweet hubby surprised me with a small get-together of friends at home. He already planned it in advance and stopped by the nearest restaurant to collect the order. Isn't he the sweetest or what?

So, my 39th birthday is about to wrap up in few hours. I am still basking in this warm feeling inside because people care and remember.

Thanks everyone! You all know who you are. And to God, thank you so much for another year of bright hope and promises of a better life ahead. I TRUST in YOU.

Thank Goodness for Friends

I am the kind of person who has very little circle of friends. However, I do pride myself for having a small circle of pals because they have been my friends for as long as I can remember.

I am very choosy when it comes to building friendships because I value relationships so much. I take friendship as a serious relationship where everything is built on "trust."

I have had my fair share of friendships gone sour because the trust had been broken or we just grew apart. I have tried reviving a "fallen" friendship too at one point but was rejected. So, I get hurt too in this friendship business. It is just not easy to keep real friends these days.

I am glad though that despite the lack of time, my friends and I still get in touch through various means like emails, chat rooms and phone calls. I am glad they are still around to give me a nudge when everything else seems to go astray in my life. I am really thankful for the few friends I have who are always there no matter what.

Friends are really like wine. The older the friendship gets, the better they become. Thanks to all my friends. You are all heaven sent to me and my family.

Blessings in Many Forms

I watched GMA Channel 7 program in our cable few minutes ago. Mel Tiangco was telling the viewers of the account of GMA Kapuso outreach program. They showed how they distributed school bags and supplies to the poor children of a small town in Laguna.

I was so touched on the 13 year old boy who wanted to go to school and finally attend Grade 1 this school year. He missed plenty of classes trying to help his family make a living. Another young boy had hydro encephalitis but still had the passion to go to school despite his condition. And lastly, this young boy who walked several miles to reach school because he could not afford a transport.

I could not help but cry on their accounts and what they had to go through to have a decent life by going to school. I feel a bit ashamed of myself for neglecting my blessings and instead, complain about the little nuisances I face in life. To think, my discomfort is nothing compared to what these children go through everyday.

I am thankful for all the blessing, be it small or big because God never fails. Thank you Lord for giving me this enlightenment so that I can appreciate everything around me and know that all these are your blessings in various forms.

Tribute to my Blogging Friends

Who said blogging is just a mere activity where you sit and warm your chair for hours on end? Nope, not me! It is more than that. Believe me...

I am writing this as a tribute to all my blogging sis and bros I have met through the blogosphere since I started more than 2 years ago.

I never thought I can find immense joy in writing and getting to know other bloggers out there. Little did I know that leaving comments would actually forge friendships.

I am very happy and truly honored to meet all of you (you all know who you are!) who have made my life more colorful, meaningful and exciting. I have extended my family far and wide to include my blogging friends all over the world.

38!

It seems like yesterday when I posted my "feelings" about turning 37. Now, I am turning 38 in few days time.

I can't honestly say that I am looking forward to it because that leaves me 2 years to go before I join the "Over the Hill" club. Not what I imagined but it is inevitable. I know, like I always say over and over again, age is just a number. However, that number seems to be going up really fast. Last time I checked, I was writing 37 on the space provided for age whenever I fill up forms. Well, I know I cannot dodge growing old this time. So, let the good times roll!!!

It can't be that bad. At least, I am another year wiser and more graceful as I age. I can see strands of silver hair popping from my scalp. I can feel the fine "laugh" lines of my face which reminds me of the guffaws I shared with my family and friends. Oh, don't forget the expanding waist line which seems to compete with my age. LOL! Ah, do not dismiss the fact that my fingers are starting to hurt during cold season and my joints squeak every opportunity they get. Also, the problem with the monthly periods is another issue to think of. It leaves me guessing whether I will have it or not. Whatever! That's all I can say.

Yes, I will be 38 in due time. I will probably be crankier than ever (seriously, sometimes I am Mrs. Oscar the Grouch!), more homebody, will avoid parties as much as I can and will surely enjoy more quality time spent with my family and close friends.

Sigh, this is it. I will be 38! Still thankful for another worthy year of a good life and blessings.

Thankful Each Day

Sometimes, I tend to overlook the simple joys life has to offer. I often focus on the pain but never realize that these pains actually make me stronger. It's the obstacles I face which make me a better person. For that, I am very thankful for every blessing and even trials which come my way. I know HE lets me go through life's rough patches to prepare me for the better things in life. The best is yet to come...

I am thankful for my family who loves and support me no matter what. I am truly grateful for the wonderful friends (be it online or blogging pals) who make my life so much meaningful and colorful. I am thankful for the good health, the roof on our heads, the food on our tables and the wee money in our pockets.

I am thankful for everything. I am thankful for this life.
