Tips To Get Out Of That Weight Loss Plateau

Have your weight loss levelled to a point that you are not even losing an inch nor the numbers on the scale do not change at all no matter how hard you workout and diet?

You may have hit a plateau in your weight loss and do not lose hope and drop everything you have worked hard for just because of that. There are ways to get out of the rut if you're stuck in one. Here are some tips to note of to kick-start that metabolism.

  • Go on a variety of workouts in a day if you can. So, if you have been jogging non-stop for months on end, it is high time to shake things up. Incorporate Zumba or other aerobic exercises in your workout and this will crank up your metabolism and burn extra calories too.
  • Include intervals on your exercise routine. A burst of 30-1 minute high-intensity aerobic workout can speed up your metabolism.
  • Avoid eating carbs and stick to high-fibre, whole grains food and have more vegetables in your staple.
  • Be fidgety! Move around even if you are not working out nor exercising. Pace around when you're on the phone. Use the stairs instead of the lift. Park somewhere farther (but practice caution though... You don't want to park too far where there are lesser people) so you will have to walk towards the entrance. Take a walk to the park. Walk your dog. Clean the house. Scrub the floors. And so much more activities you can do just to get yourself moving.

Break out of the rut! Start moving! Start shaking for a healthier you!

Tips For Waist Loss (and Weight Loss too!)

Dieting is not the only key to lose those stubborn belly fats and affect your weight loss. One does not have to undergo strict diet to achieve their weight loss goals. A smart diet and commitment to regular exercise or activity can help burn the fats and whittle the middle part of the body which is very crucial to one's health.

Here are some tips to note to lose inches on the waist and drop the weight for health's sake.

Walk regularly and try to achieve at least 10,000 steps every day. Invest on a good pedometer for this activity.

Stretch after walking. Stretching keeps the muscle limber, flexible and it helps prevent injury.

Ditch the bad food in your cupboard and refrigerator. Stock up on green, leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. Try to limit your intake of processed fruit juices. Try to drink the fresh one or do some juicing.

Limit your sugar intake. Try substituting white sugar with honey if you want to sweeten your drink. Use table sugar sparingly for your cooking.

Cut back on trans fat and white flours. Stick to olive oil and consume whole grain rather than the processed white flour.

Enlist a buddy or other family members to support you on your weight loss goals. It is always nice to exercise and eat healthy when you know your friends and family know what you are going through and understand the importance of your lifestyle change.

Write it down. Note all the food you eat, how long you have exercised, what activities you have done for the day.

Engage your core. Do strength training and light weight lifting to tone your muscles.

Rotund And Flabby

My conscious self tells me to really lose it - the weight and the belly flab! I feel the signs are all pointing to my expanding girth and my flabby tummy.

I realized today that my weight is becoming an issue and so is my waist line. We were in Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi a while ago. We took a seated ride in one of the attractions. Most rides all over the world require a mechanical seat restrainer or that long bar that automatically shuts down close to your waist and legs to secure you in your seat in the ride. Well, let's just say, I couldn't breath when it closed. I felt it was tight in my waist area but looking at my family, their secure bar seemed to be just fine and they could even move a little. Wow! That meant my belly fat is becoming a problem now.

I am taking little steps to get myself committed to what I can actually do. I have been checking sites for fitness and health tips. I also searched some sites for other equipment and accessories to have if I decide to incorporate yoga or Pilates in my daily routine. You can click here for yoga mats wholesale prices or other items you can add to help you in your weight loss goal programs.

Losing weight is not easy. However, I don't want to be bound to this unhealthy body and lifestyle. If you're like me, I am sure you know how it feels being teased and mocked for your weight. People think it's easy or we don't care. Little do they know how much we're crying inside, begging for help and acceptance. So, I want to break out of that negative cycle where everyone thinks all I do is eat and sleep. I know I am rotund and flabby but all I'm asking these people is not to shove it on my face!

Weight Gain And Weight Loss

Gaining weight was difficult when I was young. I was a scrawny, little kid with a whale-ful of appetite. I remember chugging full cream milk every day, having 1 pint of ice cream for dessert and eating rice and other fattening morsels regularly. I barely gained weight.

I reached puberty and still had the same problem - too skinny. I was already in college and was still buying pants and other clothes off the pre-teens rack! I would always have my jeans re-fitted by a tailor or have to get a size meant for a 12 year-old kid. Imagine how tiny and slim I was then.

I got married and had a kid and still had the slim physique I had before. I started to balloon when I hit 35 and that was 5 years ago. Since then, my weight would fluctuate. It is a real yo-yo weight loss and gain for me. However, I noticed these past few weeks that it is a steady weight gain. Am I reaching menopausal stage? Are my hormones going berserk?

I am exercising and eating properly and yet, the scale still shows abominable numbers. I am too scared now to step on the weighing scale because the numbers are not right. Or I am in denial? Proof that I am gaining weight are my tight clothes. They are seriously getting tighter  by the week. If I don't do something very drastic and serious then I will end up buying bigger sized clothes which I am not too happy about.

My friends are supporting me on my goal to lose weight for good health's sake. I am serious about it but I need constant reminders and a lot of prodding o help me get through. I think I am having withdrawal symptoms now. I crave food that I usually don' eat and when I eat them, I feel awful. I hope I can get over that phase. I just want to lose weight the healthy way.

I have a very long way to go. I hope I can make it through because gaining weight is easier now than losing weight. My body's not the same anymore.

Thinner Thighs

Isn't this a common dream of the other half of the female population who are born with fuller figure? I dream of having thin thighs too but in a healthier vision of "thin." I think I must term it aptly as "toner thighs."

I used to be very thin before hitting mid-30's. I could fit in a size 0 or 1 jeans even after delivery. I was that skinny but things changed in my body. I got rounder and flabby. My thighs grew like big logs and I didn't know why and how. I just knew that one day, I could not fit into any of my normal jeans. I had to buy a bigger size now.

However, don't despair if you're in the same boat as I am. There are ways to slim and trim your flabby thighs but you have to commit to a regular exercise and proper eating habits.

1. Run or go for regular walks
Endurance sports build certain muscle fibers which does not bulk up. It makes your legs toner and firmer. Start your regular walk and then progress into jogging later on as you build up your endurance.

2. Do squats
If you are seated most of the time in the office, take a breather and stand. Use the back of your chair as support and do squats or side lifts. I normally do this in the office without a care.

3. Engage in Pilates
These workouts are designed to stretch and tone the muscles minus the bulky part.  However, doing Pilates alone cannot make your thighs slim. Combine this with other cardio routines and proper nutrition.

4. Weight Training
Adding this routine to your workout will help tone and firm your thighs especially if you concentrate on the leg areas. Body fat is burned during exercise and adding weight training to your exercise can speed up the fat-burning process and will help in making your thighs leaner and more shapely.

5. Eat properly
Remove junk food in your eating equation and replace them with healthier options like fruits, vegetables and lean meat. Minimize the intake of sodium and drink more water to eliminate water retention.

6. Climb the stairs
Use the stairs often than the elevator if you can. Lightly running up and down the stairs help burn out fats and will make your thighs firmer and leaner.

My Lab Results

I got my lab results last night and went to see my doctor again for a reading. My cholesterol is high but my blood sugar is normal. However, I can't believe my uric level is so high. It's not even just above the meridian. It's high!

So, that could be the reason why my ankles ache in the morning before I get up. Although, my ankles don't swell, I do feel pain there and on my knees. I thought, the pain was brought about by the 2.7 km walk I did so I didn't give much thought.

Well, I may go vegan for a while. I have no idea how it will go and how my taste buds will receive the new idea and food group. I don't have a problem taking red meat and some seafood out of my eating equation but  not eat my favorite wheat breads and oatmeal cookies? That's just plain torture!

I am barely on my 40s and yet I have these conditions normally felt by middle-aged people. The doctor advised me to really lose weight and strict diet on low purines because purines found on most food I love to eat are one of the culprits of my rising uric acid.

I just wonder why I was predisposition to have these kinds of conditions. I don't smoke. I don't drink. I get my 8 hours of sleep. I eat healthy foods and not much of a meat eater. I exercise and I try my best to think of positive thoughts. And yet, I still have these conditions which can affect my heart if I don't do something about them. I am really bummed right now.

Anyway, no use crying over spilled milk. I just have to follow my doctor's advise to the letter. I may experience some withdrawal symptoms while I wean away from breads and other delicious food I love to eat. Let this be a warning... Grumpy alert!

Health Nut - Avoid The Bad Snacks

Two of the worst snacks in the world are chips and soda or those fizzy drinks. They are very high in sodium and sugar which are bad for one's health and weight.

If you are craving for sugary food and empty-nutrient chips, instead, snack on crunchy baby carrots, cucumber slices or throw in some celery sticks for good measure.

Drink green tea instead and enjoy it hot or cold. If you want to add a bit of sweetness to your beverage, just add a teaspoon of honey.

Half An Hour Run

I ran for half an hour today. I didn't want to go more than that since my knees would give up. I still have plenty of weight to lose so I am taking it slowly but surely.

I put the treadmill on level 2 incline to give my run more oomph and substance. I wore an elastic band around my waist to encourage sweating specially on my waist area which is my main problem. After the half an hour run, I ate a meatloaf sandwich and downed 2 full glasses of water to re-hydrate myself.

A lot of people can do an hour stretch of running but I cannot subject myself to that. I have read in the web that if you run right away without building your stamina, you will only get injuries. Also, I have checked the web for the best weight loss supplements available in the market to aid my weight loss; apart from drinking green tea. I am also taking omega 3 fatty acid as a supplement to help my joints and heart.

I still have a long way to go. Like I always tell everybody, I don't mind the slow, steady pace as long as I get to my goal the healthy and proper way.

Not Fat, Just ROUND!

Try as I might to dispel the thought that becoming rotund runs in our genes. Both of my parents are slightly round, my sister is also in the "fat" side, my brother is like a walking Buddha and one of my niece is like a ball.

So there, we are a family of round people. I used to be skinny prior to reaching mid-thirties. I even fit on pre-teens clothing until I was about 35. Then boom! All those unwanted fats started to creep in from nowhere and next thing I knew, I was wearing XL-sized clothes.

I tried every imaginable diet out there but fell flat. I even checked websites upon websites about diet pills that work , starved myself, went vegan for a while and did the no-food after 6 fad too. Some worked, some didn't so I was back to square one.

I know better now. I am regularly exercising since I already lost 4 kilos. I don't want to stop now and fall back to my bad routine of eating chips and being sedentary. I just want to move and move and lose more weight the healthy way. It may take time. I am not in a rush as long as I do it the healthy way.

Losing Weight

I am very glad that my weight finally budged a little. I have lost 3 kilos in a months time simply by avoiding salty and oily food. I have changed my eating habits and eats more grilled white meat than fried version. My family and friends are starting to notice the difference. I can feel the difference too because of my loose pants. Although I have considered taking Lipofuze to aid my weight loss program, I have temporarily put that plan on hold. I am still doing it the slow and sure way. I know I will make it. I just have to remain determined to resist the temptation to eat junk food and to motivate myself to exercise regularly. I will see the end result in due time and one day, will thank myself for being steadfast.

Cutting Back on Calories

I started my "experiment" today by cutting back on my calorie intake. I seriously don't know how to do this. I bought a kitchen scale and have been reading food labels before I purchase. I checked my BMI and it is not even bordering normal for my age, height and weight. Drat! I am overweight by #@ much. OVERWEIGHT!!!

I remember just being 48 kilos pre-pregnancy. I gained few pounds and went back to size 00 after giving birth. Goodness, that was 12 years ago. I started to gain weight when I hit 35 and it was never the same again.

I hope that by cutting back on my calorie intake spur my weight loss goal. It is really hard but I have to keep fit. I can only consume 1200 calories in a day and have to stay active. Let's see about that.

The Case of the Failing Weight Loss

If Benjamin Button has his case, I have mine. And no, I am not going through a weird stage of physiological changes but my weight loss plan is gravely affected. I am beginning to realize why my plan to lose weight is not moving an inch because I lack the determination. Classic example is today. Last night, I set my alarm clock to 6 a.m. so I could run on the park. I did wake up and washed my face and brushed my teeth and set my running shoes. Then I sat on the bed and told myself I'd just have another minute. Next thing I knew it, I was deep asleep again. So I ended up "jogging" in my dreams.

I seem to lack focus on that goal. I can't figure out why. I keep envisioning myself slim and trim but my will does the opposite. I keep munching junk food, sleep late, sit a lot in front of the laptop, barely lifts a finger to exercise except for few jumping jack sessions everyday. As for my running, the once regular activity I do has become a sideline only when I have the time.

Seriously, this is not the way to lose weight. I am losing track here. Somebody better snap me out of this! And that somebody is ME!!!

Building Up Some Mass

A friend has recently joined the gym and paid a very costly amount for membership because he wants to build up some mass. Simply put, he wants to bulk up because he finds his thin frame quite awkward considering his tall stature.

One of his gym buddies recommended that he checks out cytosport muscle milk review and compare the benefits of taking muscle building products. He still needs to learn the rudiments of body building and weight lifting. He is interested and is considering to purchase these products to aid him on his mass increase.

Health Nut - Weight Loss Tracker

We exercise and keep our diet on check but do we actually track our achievements or at least keep our goals on a tab?

There are a number of tools to assist us and keep us in line with our set goals to lose weight. Some weight loss tracker can help us maintain our motivation and sticking to out set goals. It also helps us to monitor our weight loss progress.

Apart from weight loss tools available in the Internet, we can also keep our progress by keeping a journal which I have been doing for years now. At least with my journal, I know exactly when I fall of the track and when.

Girls Talk - Figure! Figure! Figure!!!

I am so relieved that February GT is over. However, my sigh of relief turned to a manic palpitation when I checked sister Niko's March GT theme. I hope she won't mind if I dodge this one as I prefer to keep my vital stats under wraps especially when I am on my quest to lose substantial amount of weight. Yes, when I say substantial, I mean big, enormous figure.

As far as sharing is concerned, I will just give few:

AGE: I am turning 38 this March.
HEIGHT: Barely there! Hahahaha!!!! Let's just say, I am "pocket-sized" for your convenience.

So, in keeping with the faith of regularly posting GT topics even when I skipped February because I didn't have anything special cut out for me for Valentine's Day to share; I am posting this dodgy GT. ;) Peace!

Health Nut - No Aching Joints

I have reached that age (or must I say, I have reached the pinnacle of my weight dilemma!) where my joints are starting to ache a wee bit specially when it is cold or when I am on a stationary position for so long.

Back when I was slim, trim and very healthy, I did not feel any of these aching symptoms nora slight sensation. I noticed when I started piling the pounds, my joints started to ache and sometimes they ache so bad.

I went to the doctor to have my blood chem checked and it still registers as normal. However, the doc advised me to lose pounds because my weight is putting a burden on my joints. OK, simply put - I am fat!

Here is a juice which can give your joints certain comfort - Orange Juice. Yes, that OJ thing can give you the beta-cryptoxanthin which aids in reducing the risk of polyarthritis. Not only that, it is loaded with Vitamin C which is another important nutrient needed to have healthy joints.

So, get your juicers out and squeeze those oranges dry.

Health Nut - Great Breakfast Meals to Burn Fat

I am eager to weak skinny jeans once again. It will take time for me to lose the much needed weight so I have to incorporate a good exercise with my diet plan. When I say diet, that means eating properly and not skipping on any meals. And portion-controlled eating too.

Studies show that having these food as part of your breakfast can aid in burning fat. These food are: eggs, yogurt and cereals. Why does it have to be breakfast? Well, our morning meal is the most important meal of the day if you want to control your appetite and lose weight. Here are the reasons why these 3 food must be added in our breakfast meal:

Eggs: They contain protein which makes us full so it curbs our appetite.

Yogurt: Calcium-rich food which helps in inhibiting fat storage in our small intestines and aid in digestion.

Whole-grain Cereals: Rich in fibre. These cereals help control blood sugar level and lessen belly fat.

So, don't skip your breakfast! Eat healthy!

Aid in Losing Weight

It seems like I am not the only one with weight problems. My friend is also looking for the best weight loss pills she can find in the market because she needs to lose weight fast. Her hubby is coming home for a brief vacation from work this March and she wants to surprise him. I told her to check out the nutrition shops in her place and read some reviews of weight loss pills from internet sites just to get information to help her decide on which one to actually purchase.

Quick Weight Loss Product

My aunt bought me a quick weight loss product but I will not name the brand. It comes in 2 big plastic bottles containing 60 capsules each. I have not tried it yet as I am weighing many factors. First, I want to make sure it will not make my heart palpitate. Second, it must be approved by the FDA and lastly, it must not make me move all the time like most fat burner pills.

I will start taking the product soon but I need to increase my workout session because the weight loss supplement contains green tea so I will be more active the usual. However, I am still looking for other weight loss supplements but have yet to hear from people who have tried them.

Weight Loss Supplements Here

I went to one of the nutrition shops here in Dubai where various health, weight loss and weight gain products are sold. There are too many to choose from that I got a bit confused. The weight loss supplements here are carefully regulated by the Ministry of Health so I am sure that if I buy any weight loss supplements, that particular product has passed the FD approval. Otherwise, I am keen to take my weight loss goal in a different approach. That is, to jog like crazy until I reach my happy and healthy weight. Oh, by the way, I am going to jog tomorrow for an hour. Let's see if my aching knees cooperate.
